14 Regt RA finally have their hands on the Gunner Cup for the first time in their history, and they earned it in the most dramatic fashion imaginable.
A fierce, end‑to‑end battle with 7 Para RHA finished 2–2 in normal time, but it was 14 Regt RA who held their nerve from the spot—thanks to three outstanding penalty saves from Bdr Reed, who turned the shootout into his own personal highlight reel.

Goals from Sgt Sutherland and Bdr Beckley kept 14 Regt RA in the fight during a high‑tempo match where both sides refused to back down. The game swung like a pendulum, with momentum shifting constantly, but the grit and discipline lead to a late equaliser.
When the final whistle blew at 2–2, it all came down to penalties—and that’s when Bdr Reed stepped forward and delivered a performance that will be talked about for years.

14th Regiment Royal Artillery and The King’s Gurkha Artillery recently completed its inaugural duty trek to Nepal. The visit provided a meaningful opportunity to support the Gurkha Welfare Trust (GWT) and offer firsthand feedback on the organisation’s vital work supporting veterans and their families across the region.⁠

Throughout the trek, the team witnessed the exceptional dedication of GWT staff, whose efforts from community outreach to essential welfare provision, ensure that Gurkha veterans receive the care, respect, and support they have earned through decades of loyal service. Engaging directly with veterans and their families offered invaluable insight into their daily lives, their ongoing needs, and the tangible impact of welfare initiatives delivered on the ground.⁠

The journey also allowed the Commanding Officer, Gurkha Major, and Regimental Sergeant Major to experience the demanding geography of Nepal. This exposure deepened the team’s understanding of the environment that shapes Gurkha culture, resilience, and spirit, as well as the realities faced by soldiers’ families.⁠

The senior leadership team returned with renewed respect for the Gurkha legacy and an even stronger commitment to supporting the welfare structures that safeguard the dignity and well-being of Gurkha veterans and their families.⁠
