🏃 177 miles (285km). Seven days. Nearly 30,000ft of elevation. One incredible challenge.

After months of training, carb loading and taping up tired bodies, the team took on the relentless Offa's D**e Challenge, tackling mountains, roads, heat, rain and wind along the English-Welsh border.

And they've done it.

With the support of friends, families, colleagues and teammates, our 104 Regt RA heroes crossed the finish line together.

Being a Gunner Reservist is about more than the time you spend in uniform. It's about pushing your limits, sharing unforgettable experiences and knowing there's a team beside you when the going gets tough.

“The RA charities have changed my life.”

Those words from a Gunner veteran say more than we ever could.

After receiving support from the Royal Artillery family of charities - including a place to call home - his life changed.

And that doesn’t end when you leave the Army.

Thanks to initiatives such as the service Day’s Pay Scheme, the Royal Artillery Charitable Fund is there to help serving Gunners, veterans and their families when they need it most.

You only have to serve one day as a Gunner to become part of that family.

And once you’re part of it, the Royal Artillery charities are there for you - for life.

Every contribution helps ensure that, whether a Gunner needs support today, tomorrow or decades after leaving service, the Gunner family can be there.

One day of service. A lifetime of belonging.

Sunrise: Imperial War Museum, London, September 1, 2026.

Today, soldiers from L (Nery) Battery, 1st Regiment Royal Horse Artillery, gathered to honour the heroes who came before them at the Affair of Néry.

Standing in front of the famous Néry Gun - the 13-pounder that became a symbol of extraordinary courage on this day in 1914 - they remembered the men whose actions there earned three Victoria Crosses before breakfast.

Against overwhelming odds, the soldiers of L Battery fought on and on.

Their courage, resilience and determination became part of the Battery's history and its identity.

More than a century later, today's soldiers strive to live up to that remarkable legacy - setting the bar with the same resilience, professionalism and respect.
We remember their sacrifice.

We honour their courage. And we carry their story forward.
