Are you looking for a fulfilling role in the beautiful Tamar Valley?

We are looking for a Community, Participation & Volunteering Co-ordinator to be part of a small but supportive team in the Tamar Valley property group, working across Cotehele, Antony and Buckland Abbey.

We're looking for an experienced, engaging, community minded professional. This role will focus on building and developing relationships with both our internal and external communities.

There will be a focus on creating and opening up new and flexible volunteering opportunities in line with the National Trust's new strategy.

All jokes aside, we really do love dogs at our places in the Tamar Valley. Each of our places welcomes dogs slightly differently, so be sure to check our websites before your visit if you're unsure of our Canine Code!

Can you believe that summer is nearly over? There's just two weeks to enjoy a Summer of Play at Cotehele and Cotehele Mill!

Promenade around the gardens in A Very Royal Summer of Play and discover royal wildlife on the way to Cotehele Mill.

Pull on your 'deerstalker' hat and become a Nature Detective at the Mill: who knows what you could find by the Morden Stream?

Cotehele is open 10am-5pm daily (Cotehele Mill opens from 11am-4.30pm). All summer activities run until 6 September.

We're looking forward to welcoming back our friends at Drawn to the Valley for Open Studios at Cotehele between 29 August and 6 September!

Drawn to the Valley is a group of local artists formed in 2004 and brings the Tamar Valley to life through art.

We welcome artists to work at Cotehele during the 'Open Studios' season, allowing our visitors to get a taste of the Valley's creativity. Here's a picture of 2025's artists working in the Victorian Drawing Room: so much artistic energy!

This year we welcome artists Ali Fife Cook, Gill Mannings Cox, Dee Coward, Nuala Taylor, Gill Sargeant and Anita Townsend and we can't wait to see what they work on this year.

The artists and their work will be found in the East Range of the house between 29 August and 6 September, 11am-4pm. Why not gain inspiration and bring along your own art supplies for a sketch in the gardens?

Pop this in the canine calendar! Pooch Passports are returning and they're even more paw-some than ever 🐾

Head to participating places 1 September 2026 and 28 February 2027 to fill your Pooch Passport with stamps. Collect 5 stamps to receive a tasty treat courtesy of Forthglade, collect 10 to get a very special prize!

Here in the Tamar Valley, you can pick up a passport and stamps from Buckland Abbey and Cotehele at Visitor Welcome. We can't wait to welcome you and your pooch: are you ready for walkies?

Cotehele’s interior, as you see it today, was furnished between around 1750 and 1860 by the Edgcumbe family.

In 1789, King George III and Queen Charlotte visited the property, which put Cotehele on the early tourist map! The Queen even recorded her impressions in her journal—the earliest known description of Cotehele’s stunning interior—showing that its rich antiquarian traditions were already well established.

She described it as:

'It did originally exist of 3 Courts, of which there is now but one existing and Consists of a large Hall full of Old Armor & Swords & Old Carved Chairs of the Times.'

This royal visit inspired Summer of Play in the gardens. Have you brought along any new courtiers to Cotehele this summer?

It's time to look ahead to our last exhibition of the year 👀

We all know Cotehele is beautiful all year round, and Mark Fielding has captured the changing seasons in majestic hues.

Inspired by nature's rich colours and the abstract in the everyday, Mark has curated a collection of his pieces that feature Cotehele, a jewel in the Tamar Valley.

Join us between 12 and 20 September for a jaw-dropping journey through the seasons in the East Range of Cotehele's house.

Watch this space as we reveal a few more of Mark's pieces over the coming weeks on our social media channels!
