Every spring, Cotehele's resident Mother Duck gathers her brood of ducklings for a long journey 🦆

After a few days of gathering their strength, she takes the ducklings from the tranquillity of the Upper Garden pond, all the way through the garden, down the hill and into the Valley Garden where they rest in the pond there. After a few days, they will move on again downhill to the river, there to grow into big, strong ducks in the flow of the Tamar.

The garden team keep an eye on Mother Duck and her brood at this time of year and love to watch her yearly voyage. We find these repeated pattern of behaviour fascinating - do you have any repeat visitors like this to your garden?

We hope this brought you a smile, as it did us!

No your eyes don't deceive you... it does say Lanhydrock 😂

Lovers of Cotehele Quay will have noticed the coffee van in place by the Information Point, lent to us by our friends at Lanhydrock National Trust!

While the Edgcumbe Café is closed for essential works, the food and beverage team are staffing the van as often as they can and filling it with fresh coffee, Callestick ice cream and hot pastries.

Take a seat at one of the picnic tables or take a stroll to the Cotehele Mill, drink in hand: the perfect way to enjoy late spring in the Tamar Valley 🌿

At last, it's a Wisteria Wednesday! 💜

We're getting across the Tamar Valley, with the gorgeous amethyst blooms out at Antony, Cotehele and Buckland Abbey this week.

At Antony, you will find perfectly pruned branches drifting over the pond by the house. Cotehele's wisteria is bringing colour to Hall Court flanking the house's front door, and Buckland's blooms can be found against the Abbey and flourishing in the Cider House Garden.

The colour and scent is unbeatable! Have you got any photos to share of wisteria at our places? Share the lilac love below!
