🌟 What a fantastic first half-term at Saltash Community School! 🌟

As we reach the end of our first half-term of the new school year, we would like to say a huge well done to all our students for their hard work, effort and achievements so far. We are incredibly proud of the way they have settled into the new academic year and all they have accomplished.

A big thank you also to our parents and carers for your continued support.

We hope all our students, families and staff have a wonderful, well-deserved half-term break, with plenty of time to relax, recharge and enjoy some special moments together.

📢 Launchpad Live 2026!

Last week, our Year 11 students, alongside Year 10 and Year 11 students from our ARB, attended Launchpad Live Careers Fair in Plymouth.

The event gave students a fantastic opportunity to explore a wide range of future pathways, speak with local employers about apprenticeship opportunities, and learn more about courses available through colleges and training providers.
We were incredibly proud of how our students represented the school. They were polite, respectful, engaged and asked thoughtful questions, already demonstrating the excellent communication skills that will support them in the world of work and beyond.

Experiences like this help students to broaden their horizons, raise aspirations and make informed decisions about their futures.

Well done, Saltash students! We are very proud of you and hope the day has inspired and supported you on your careers journey. ⭐

💙💛 A HUGE THANK YOU TO RYEARCH! 💛💙

Yesterday, we were delighted to welcome the team from Ryearch to our Additional Resource Base (ARB) to meet our students and see first-hand the fantastic impact of the inclusive sports sessions at the Life Centre. 🏃‍♀️🏅

Thanks to their generous sponsorship, our students will be able to continue accessing these valuable sessions throughout the year! 🙌

A special thank you goes to Hayley Tremain, whose hard work and dedication helped secure this wonderful opportunity. We would also like to thank Alan, Georgina, Mark and Dickie from Ryearch for their generosity, encouragement and continued support. 💙

We are also incredibly grateful for the hoodies they kindly provided for both students and staff to wear when attending the sessions. 🧥

These sessions are about so much more than sport. They give our students opportunities to build friendships with young people from other schools, develop communication and social skills, and grow in confidence, self-esteem and independence. Most importantly, they create inclusive experiences where everyone can participate, connect and thrive. 🌟

Thank you, Ryearch, for helping make these opportunities possible! Your support will make a real difference to our students and enable them to enjoy experiences that benefit them both in and beyond the classroom.

🏐🔥 WHAT A WAY TO END THE HALF-TERM! 🔥🏐

What a fantastic afternoon of netball for our Year 7 girls yesterday! 💙💛

We welcomed two Year 7 teams for a home fixture, and both teams were absolutely brilliant! The teamwork, communication, determination and sportsmanship on display were outstanding — and the results speak for themselves! 🏆

⭐ Some fantastic wins included:
🏐 9–0 against Torpoint 1
🏐 6–1 against Looe
🏐 6–1 against Torpoint 2
🏐 3–2 against Looe

All the hard work at Netball Club and in PE is clearly paying off, and we couldn’t be prouder of how far the girls have come! 🌟

A special well done to our Players of the Match — Lowenna, Olivia, Isla and Honor! 🏅👏

After an afternoon of fantastic netball, the girls enjoyed a well-deserved bounce on the trampolines to round off the celebrations! 🎉

A huge thank you to Mr Perry and everyone who came along to support, and a special shout-out to our Sixth Former, Isla, for her fantastic support and help umpiring the fixtures. 💙

🏆🎬 TUTOR REWARD EVENT! 🎬🏆

Yesterday, we celebrated our first winning tutor groups of the year with a well-earned cinema-style afternoon, watching Toy Story 5 and enjoying some tasty treats! 🍿🥤

A huge congratulations to our winning tutor groups:

⭐ 6M1

Each group achieved the highest average house points per student in their year group — a fantastic achievement! 🌟

Well done to all our winning students and tutors. It was brilliant to celebrate the positive contributions, effort and commitment shown across our school community.

👏 The race starts again next half term! More reward events are on the way, recognising the individual students, tutor groups and houses who continue to live our school values and help Team Saltash shine every day.

🏐💚 LEADERSHIP IN ACTION — WELL DONE, YEAR 9! 💚🏐

A massive well done to our Year 9 students, who have shown fantastic enthusiasm for developing their leadership skills during their Netball lessons this term! 👏

From umpiring matches and leading warm-ups to taking charge of activities for their peers, our students have really stepped up and embraced the opportunity to lead.

It has been wonderful to see their confidence grow, their willingness to learn and improve, and the support they have shown one another along the way.

A huge well done to everyone who has taken on a leadership role, and thank you to their classmates for encouraging them and giving them the opportunity to shine. This is what teamwork is all about! 🌟

And the best part? Students are already asking if they can take on leadership roles in other sports too!

We love seeing our students develop the confidence, responsibility and skills that will help them both on and off the court.

🏆💚 CELEBRATING PATRICK — YOUTH ACHIEVEMENT OF THE YEAR! 💚🏆

We are absolutely delighted to share that Patrick, a Year 11 student in our ARB, has received the Youth Achievement of the Year Award! 🎉

Presented by the Mayor of Torpoint, Patrick’s award recognises his courage, determination and the positive steps he has taken to build confidence, discover new interests and form meaningful friendships within his local community.

Through joining the Torpoint Players, Patrick has embraced new challenges, developed his love of performing and become a valued member of the group. Following his work experience at the Beat4autism shop on Fore Street, he also took the next step into paid summer employment — a fantastic achievement!

Patrick is now looking forward to pursuing further studies, with the hope of building a future in animal care. 🐾

His story is a wonderful reminder of what can happen when we have the courage to try something new, step outside our comfort zones and believe in ourselves.

💚 TEAM SALTASH — MAKING A DIFFERENCE TOGETHER! 💚

We are incredibly proud of our school community! 🥫👏

Yesterday, we delivered our donations to Saltash Foodbank, who were absolutely blown away by the incredible volume of items our students and families had collected.

With the cost of living continuing to put pressure on local households, the need for community support is greater than ever. Our school community truly rose to the occasion, demonstrating the kindness, generosity and community spirit that make us so proud to be Team Saltash.

A huge well done to the students who helped sort the donations into categories and carry everything inside. Your time, effort and willingness to help were greatly appreciated by the foodbank team.

🏆 A special congratulations to Amkan House, who donated the greatest number of items, with Kothman House following closely behind! What a fantastic effort from both houses.

Thank you to every student, parent, carer and member of staff who contributed. Every single donation makes a difference, and together we have helped support people in our local community when they need it most.

Keep attending until Friday and you’ll receive your first of this year’s six collectable ducks! 🏆🦆 This half term’s duck is Halloween themed 🎃👻🍂

🌟 And a massive well done to the 461 students who achieved an amazing 100% attendance this half term! 🌟 These students are in the draw to win a £10 Love2Shop voucher 🎁💷 🏅 1 winner in Year 7 🏅 1 winner in Year 8 🏅 1 winner in Year 9 🏅 1 winner in Year 10 🏅 2 winners in Year 11. If they achieved their behaviour and attendance streaks then their chances are even higher!

🌋🇵🇹 TEAM AZORES: Final Day of Adventure! 🌍

What an incredible few days our Geography students have had exploring the beautiful island of São Miguel in the Azores!

For their final day, the group visited Sete Cidades, taking in breathtaking views of its spectacular volcanic crater, before discovering one of the island’s famous lakes, renowned for its striking blue and green colours.

The adventure continued with a visit to Ponta Delgada before heading underground to explore ancient lava tunnels formed by volcanic activity around 10,000 years ago — bringing their classroom learning to life in the most unforgettable way! 🌋

Of course, no trip would be complete without a little fun along the way! 🎶 The final coach karaoke to “Pedro, Pedro, Pedro” and an evening quiz provided the perfect ending to a fantastic few days of exploration, laughter and learning.

Our students have been absolutely brilliant from start to finish, embracing every opportunity and making the most of this incredible experience.

A huge thank you to Miss Roberts and Mr Budd for their knowledge, enthusiasm, support and guidance throughout the trip. Your dedication has helped make this such a memorable experience for everyone involved.

Yesterday marked the end of their Azores adventure, and today the group begins the journey home to Saltash, bringing back wonderful memories, new friendships and plenty of geographical knowledge! ✈️🌍
