News of the Cliffemount Hotel Development
Welcome!
A big welcome to the first newsletter of 2026 - we hope you're all enjoying the slightly warmer weather and sunshine! As we step into the months ahead, we’re pleased to bring you the latest updates from Cliffemount and a glimpse of what’s to come…
Current Timelines
Time really is flying and we're making some very exciting progress. Most of the first-floor steelwork is now complete and over the next month, the internal walls and external stonework will be built, putting us on track to have the first floor structurally complete by mid-late April.
We'll then move onto the second floor, which is expected to be finished by mid-late May. Assuming everything goes to plan and subject to various constraints, we're hoping to have the entire structure complete with the roof fitted for mid-August.
Key Development Updates
The main entrance at the front of the hotel is starting to take shape now that the surrounding sections have been installed.
We’re now able to see just how incredible the views will be from the first-floor balconies! The steelwork that supports them will be installed in the next couple of weeks.

We’re currently applying the crucial fire-resistant paint to the structural steelwork and and are in discussions with Passive Purple (a Passivhaus-certified brand) about their spray-applied vapour barrier, which will be installed on the inside of the walls to prevent air leakage.
The highway works plan is now complete in line with regulations. The next step is liaising with the Highways Officer to get approval from the Local Authority.
The Firs - Staff Accommodation
We're also very pleased to announce that we've acquired the well-established local Firs Guest House to create on-site accommodation for our hotel staff. This will include ensuite bedrooms, a communal lounge area and a training room.
Looking after the people who take care of our guests is so important to us, and this is one of the ways we can support them while staying connected to the local community. Our site manager is currently residing at the complex to oversee the renovation take place.
THE LEADERS OF TOMORROW EVENT
We wanted to shine a spotlight on the ‘Leaders of Tomorrow’ hospitality event that our Hotel Consultant, Philip Bolson is hosting at Rudding Park later on this month, on 23rd March.
The event is free to attend and will offer practical learning through some amazing workshops and key speakers, to those that work in the hospitality sector. Please do spread the word to anybody you know that’s under 30 and is working or aspiring to work in hospitality and may want to attend!
