👀 We spy with our little eye… something beginning with S…

No, not Southampton.

🚨 Smoke alarms (we are a Fire Service after all)!

‘We Shall Be’ wishing everyone across our communities a safe and enjoyable matchday tomorrow. ❤️🤍

Whether you’re heading to the match, watching from home, or steering well clear of the football altogether!

Whatever the result, our message stays the same: working smoke alarms save lives.

‘You’ll make us happy’ if you…

🚗 Plan your journey home

☀️ Look after yourself in the heat and drink plenty of water

🚫 Never drink and drive

🍔 Order a takeaway after the match

🔌 Check appliances are switched off before going to bed

🏠 Test your smoke alarms regularly

👀 Keep it safe tomorrow… you never know who’s watching!

🚨 Road Traffic Collision – A171 near Scaling Dam 🚨

At 2:20pm on Friday 15 May, emergency services were called to a road traffic collision involving a white Mini and a blue Ford Transit on the eastbound carriageway of the A171.

Firefighters from Danby, Whitby, Loftus and Saltburn attended alongside the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) and the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS). Crews worked together to make the scene safe and assist in the safe extrication of a casualty.

The driver of the Mini was taken to James Cook University Hospital for treatment. The driver and passenger of the Ford Transit were assessed and treated at the scene.

GNAAS deployed their critical care team, who worked alongside NEAS colleagues to assess and treat the patient prior to transport.

Cleveland Police are appealing for information following the collision. If you witnessed the incident or have dash cam footage, please contact them via 101 or through their website, quoting reference 092136.

🚒 Drill Night – 19th May

Yesterday evening, At Saltburn Fire Station we carried out ladder drills including making a Dam to provide water to the firefighter working on the ladder.

There are several ways on making a Dam and sometimes you just have to use the equipment you have. A Light Portable Pump was used supplying water to a 45mm Jet ✅

A Dam could be for example when hydrants are unavailable in rural/remote areas.
