📬 Waste & recycling collection day changes in Saltford: Around 350 properties in the village are expected to have their collection day changed from 7 September. If you’re affected you will receive a letter from B&NES Council. More information is in the post below.

Thanks to B&NES Council Ward Cllr Duncan Hounsell for sharing with SPC that this change will affect Saltford. We don’t currently know which properties are affected, but will share information if received.

📬 Have you received a collection day change letter?

A small number of households across Bath & North East Somerset will have a new rubbish, recycling or garden waste collection day from 7 September.

✅ If you've received a letter, please check your new collection dates carefully.
✅ If you haven't received a letter, your collection day is unlikely to be changing.
✅Check your collection day on B&NES Council website. New changes will be shown online from 7 September.

Don’t forget put your rubbish bin and recycling containers out by 6am on your new collection day (or no earlier than 8pm the night before). Due to changes to our collection routes, crews may arrive at different times than you are currently used to.

A&S Police say in response to public feedback, they've increased evening patrols on the Bitton-Saltford section of the Bristol to Bath Path. More in post below 👇

🚔 High Visibility Patrols Continue on the Saltford to Bitton Cycle Track 🚴‍♀️🐴

High visibility patrols are continuing along the cycle track between Saltford and Bitton, with officers carrying out patrols on foot, by bicycle and on horseback.

In response to feedback from the public, we have increased our evening patrols to provide reassurance to those using the route.

If you use the cycle track and have any concerns, please speak to our officers when you see them out on patrol or report issues through the usual channels.

💧 In Saltford, mains water is often supplied by Bristol Water, with sewerage services provided by Wessex Water (you receive a single bill covering both services). Like Wessex Water, Bristol Water has now announced a hosepipe ban. The Bristol Water ban comes into effect tomorrow. Further details below 👇

💧🚫 From 00:01am on Thursday 27 August, a temporary hosepipe ban will come into effect across our supply area. This follows a drought order issued by the Environment Agency to help protect water resources in the River Severn.

Following months of hot, dry weather, significantly below-average rainfall, low river levels and continued high demand, our water resources are under increasing pressure. These conditions are affecting water supplies for people and the health of river systems and wildlife habitats.

We remain in drought. While rain is forecast this week, it won't make up for months of exceptionally dry weather. Our rivers and water resources need sustained rainfall to recover, so please keep using water wisely.

During the hosepipe ban, you must not use a hosepipe to:

👉 Water your garden
👉 Clean your car, patio or driveway
👉 Fill a paddling pool, swimming pool or hot tub
👉 Clean walls, paths or windows

👮 Police are stepping up patrols along the Saltford–Bitton section of the Bristol & Bath Railway Path to help keep it safe. Officers welcome any concerns or information from residents and path users.

BANES neighbourhood policing teams have been carrying out high-visibility patrols along the Saltford to Bitton cycle track as part of a Community Reassurance Plan aimed at preventing serious disorder and keeping the route safe for everyone.

Officers are regularly engaging with walkers, cyclists and local residents, providing reassurance, discussing concerns and explaining the proactive enforcement activity taking place in the area. These patrols are also an important opportunity to gather information from the community about locations where groups may congregate, any antisocial behaviour concerns, and other issues affecting those who use the track.

We know that local knowledge is vital. By speaking directly with path users, officers can better understand community concerns, target patrols effectively and take action where necessary.

👮 During patrols, officers will:

✅ Conduct visible reassurance patrols
✅ Stop and speak with members of the public
✅ Explain policing activity and enforcement action
✅ Encourage the reporting of concerns and suspicious behaviour
✅ Gather local intelligence to help prevent crime and disorder

If you use the Saltford to Bitton cycle track and have concerns you'd like to share, please speak to officers while they're on patrol or report information through the usual channels.
