Important roadworks information

A1 Biggleswade North Roundabout to Sandy Roundabout - resurfacing

Resurfacing on the A1 northbound between Biggleswade North Roundabout and Sandy Roundabout is due to be carried out overnight, starting Friday 15 May 2026. We will work between 9pm and 5am, weather permitting.

Closures and diversions
To carry out the work safely, we will need to close the A1 northbound between Biggleswade North Roundabout and Sandy Roundabout and divert traffic as follows:

• Traffic will be diverted off at A1(M) junction 10.
• Following the A507 to Clophill Roundabout, taking the third exit onto the A6 northbound.
• At the Elstow Interchange take the fourth exit on to the A421 eastbound.
• Exit at the A603 junction. Following the A603 to return to the A1 at Sandy Roundabout where the diversion ends.

Please note emergency vehicles will have access through the works with caution.

Important roadworks information

A1 Biggleswade North Roundabout to Sandy Roundabout - Resurfacing

Resurfacing on the A1 northbound between Biggleswade North Roundabout and Sandy Roundabout is due to be carried out overnight, starting Monday 27 April 2026. We will work between 9pm and 5am, weather permitting.

Once complete, drivers will benefit from the A1 remaining in a safe and serviceable condition.

Closures and diversions
To carry out the work safely, the A1 northbound between Biggleswade North Roundabout and Sandy Roundabout will be closed and the traffic will be diverted as follows:

• Traffic will be diverted off at A1(M) junction 10.
• Following the A507 to Clophill Roundabout, taking the third exit onto the A6 northbound.
• At the Elstow Interchange take the fourth exit on to the A421 eastbound.
• Exit at the A603 junction. Following the A603 to return to the A1 at Sandy Roundabout where the diversion ends.

East West Rail Company, (EWR) have announced details of the final public consultation which cover the entire length of the proposed Oxford to Cambridge railway.

𝐎𝐧𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧

The consultation runs from 14th April to 9th June 2026 and gives members of the public, local communities, councils and business’s the opportunity to give their views on the latest design proposals prior to EWR seeking government consent for the project to proceed.
