Central Bedfordshire Council is inviting residents, businesses and local organisations to share their views on the future of transport across the area.

The Local Transport Plan 4 (LTP4) sets out a long-term vision for a place where people have access to a sustainable and future proofed transport system that provides a variety of attractive and realistic travel choices.

It focuses on key themes including improving health and wellbeing, supporting local businesses and communities, making travel safer and more inclusive, and preserving our natural and built environment.

The Council would like your feedback on whether the plan is heading in the right direction. Whether you walk, cycle, wheel, drive or use public transport, your feedback is important in helping make sure the plan reflects local needs.

on Sunday 30 August, Great Northern and Thameslink services on the East Coast Main Line will be affected by engineering work in connection with the ongoing East Coast Digital Programme.

Additionally, evening services from approximately 20:00 onwards on Saturday 29th August and early morning services until approximately 09:00 on Monday 31st August (which is a Public Holiday), will also be affected.

The work taking place โ€“ which involves final testing to allow the industry to begin a gradual introduction of digital in-cab signalling on the main line โ€“ means that during the closure from the Saturday evening until the Monday morning, no trains will run between Potters Bar and Peterborough or Royston, and between Hertford North and Stevenage.

Train services will run between Kingโ€™s Cross or Moorgate and Potters Bar or Hertford North and between Royston and Cambridge / Kingโ€™s Lynn.

Replacement buses will run in closed sections, with some of the bus routes designed to link up with alternative rail routes on the Midland Main Line for train connections to and from central London.

Journey planners on our websites and at www.nationalrail.co.uk are fully up-to-date, including the exact last train times on the evening of Saturday 29 August, alongside a summary to the dedicated East Coast Digital Programme webpage. An overview of the customer impact and replacement bus services is available below.

The attached map provides an overview of the impact to train services on Sunday 30th August date and shows the routes replacement buses will serve on that day.

Weโ€™re disappointed to report that the knee rail posts around the boundary of Sunderland Road Playing Field have been damaged again following replacement earlier this week.

The damage occurred between ๐Ÿ‘. This is the second time during the school holidays that the posts have been vandalised, and they are costly to replace.

CCTV footage has been downloaded and passed to the police for investigation.

If you witnessed anything in the area during this time, or have any information that may help identify those responsible, please contact us at [email protected].

Repeated vandalism means money that could otherwise be spent on maintaining and improving our parks and open spaces has to be used for repairs.

We would ask everyone to help us look after these valuable community facilities.
