It’s fair to say that both the children and adults were blown away by our amazing RapSchool session with Rob aka Jack Flash.

A massive thank you to Rob for delivering this amazing session. Thanks for inspiring us and showing us how to create our own raps! Also, a big thank you to all the parents and grandparents who thoroughly engaged in this session.

The session was funded by NYC Locality Funding arranged by County Councillor David Jeffels.

Please note that the library may be a bit noisy and busy this afternoon between 2:30pm - 4:30pm due our Rap School event. If you are popping in to change children's books or play in the children's area, we would advise avoiding this time as the children's area will be difficult to access due to the session.

If enjoyed our ZooLab encounters last summer, then why not book a place Newby & Scalby Library's ZooLab sessions on Friday 28th August.

There's still places for Zoo Lab's encounters with amazing mini-beasts on Friday 28 August, especially in the afternoon. Ring 01609 534059 to book your child's free place. For accompanied 5-12 year olds.

Have you seen our wonderful library volunteer scarecrow? - number 113 on the Ayton Scarecrow trail. If you haven’t wandered around the village to see the amazing scarecrows, then this weekend is your last chance as the event finishes on Sunday.
If you are walking around the trail tomorrow, don’t forget that the library is open from 10am until 1pm - so why not pop in to have a look at the crafts and pre-loved books that are for sale!

Today, we made waves, went to the sea, sea, sea and caught a fish alive! All thanks to the brilliant Kathy Seabrook Fun Music.

It was lovely to see so many parents joining in the fun with their little ones.

A huge thank you to the Hutton Buscel Educational Trust who helped fund this session.

We have this metal bookshelf in the library, which we need to remove before we start to decorate. If anyone would like it for their garage, you are welcome to take it for free but you will need to come and remove it from the wall.

The measurements are 7ft6 tall by 6ft wide by 10 inches deep or 230cm by 183cm by 25cm.

Looking for some free activities to get you through Week 3 of the holidays? Don't forget the library is always on hand as a welcoming space to spend some time out of the house.

Our toys, colouring and games are always available to use in the children's area. We also have our obstacle course and outdoor play kit available to use in the library garden (which is fully fenced and gated).

If you haven't signed up to the Summer Reading Challenge there is still lots of time to register and start choosing and reading your 6 books. We have so many amazing books to choose from!
