❄️ Help us identify grit bins that need filling
Have you spotted a grit bin within one of Scarborough Town Council’s five wards that is not normally filled by North Yorkshire Council?
As we head towards the colder months, we want to help ensure our community is prepared.
North Yorkshire Council generally fills its grit bins once in October/November and again in December/January, depending on the weather. If a bin has been filled at all during the past few years, it is therefore likely to be maintained by North Yorkshire Council.
You can check whether a grit bin is maintained by North Yorkshire Council by clicking through to report and then entering the street name or postcode:

If you know of a grit bin that has NOT been filled in recent years but is still needed, please comment below, send us a private message or email [email protected]
If possible, please include:
📍 The exact location — a ‘what3words’ address would be particularly helpful
🏘️ A nearby street name or landmark – if it is hard to find
📷 A photograph of the bin
Thank you for helping us keep Scarborough safe and prepared for winter.
