Can you help? ⬇️

We’re appealing for information after a man was s*xually assaulted and robbed in Scarborough.

The victim, a man in his 50s, was approached by a woman who struck up a conversation with him and offered him a drink while he was in a bus shelter under Spa Bridge.

He reluctantly accepted the drink then lost consciousness and was s*xually assaulted. The victim also had cash and belongings stolen from him including some artwork he was carrying.

It is not known exactly when the incident took place, other than between Monday 10 August and Wednesday 26 August.

The suspect is described as being a woman in her 30s wearing heavy makeup, with red streaks in her hair, she was wearing a long, black skirt and a black top with white markings on the sleeves.

Following the incident, it is believed that a member of the public approached the victim while he was sat in a bus shelter and asked if he was ok. We are appealing for that person to come forward along with anyone else who may have come to the assistance of a man who may have appeared disorientated.

We're also appealing to anyone who may have found a discarded wallet or artwork consisting of black and white pencil-drawn landscape scenes to get in touch.

✅ Engaging with local communities to help people feel safer
✅ Supporting North Yorkshire Police and partner agencies in early intervention work

Activities can include:
🔹 Community events and engagement opportunities
🔹 Police operations
🔹 Mobile Police Van visits
🔹 Community Messaging System sign-ups
🔹 Crime prevention initiatives
🔹 Partnership working with other agencies

The best part? You can choose to take part in as many activities as you like, depending on your availability and interests.

Additional volunteer opportunities

We're also looking for volunteers to support with:
🚗 Moving vehicles around
🚗 Vehicle checking
💻 Online engagement, including social media and messaging platforms
📋 Administrative support

These opportunities are ideal for those who prefer a non-customer facing role.

Volunteering can also open the door to other opportunities across the organisation, including specialist and project-based roles, offering valuable experience and development.

If you're looking to make a difference in your community, we'd love to hear from you.

🚨 “The Power of Volunteering”🚨

Special Constables are volunteers — but their impact is anything but small. Every shift, they step into real policing roles, supporting incidents, engaging with communities, and helping keep North Yorkshire safe.

They give their time. They give their energy. They give their commitment. And our communities are stronger because of it.🩵

We’re appealing for information about a dog bite incident that occurred on Wykeham Street in Scarborough.

It happened at approximately 11.40am on Monday 24 August when a woman was walking down Wykeham Street and a dog has jumped onto her and bitten her in her face. The dog did not seem to have an owner with them and ran off towards Manor Road.

The victim has suffered lacerations to her face, requiring numerous stitches which will leave permanent scarring.

The dog was described by the victim to be a Husky/Malamute type of dog, not fully grown so potentially a puppy. The dog was said to have a black head with a mostly brown body, and was wearing a black collar.

We’re particularly appealing for information about this dog, if it has been seen roaming around with no owner present. We're also appealing for any CCTV or any witnesses who may have seen this happen, or could potentially know of this dog and its owner.
