🇬🇧✨ Armchair Travel to London at Sycamore Lodge

Today our residents enjoyed a wonderful armchair travel adventure to London, exploring some of the city’s most iconic sights from the comfort of their cosy armchairs.

Residents spent time looking through London‑themed photographs, including Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, the London Eye, and the famous red double‑decker buses. These images sparked conversation, memories, and plenty of smiles.

Some residents enjoyed colouring London landmarks, focusing carefully on the details and adding bright colours to their artwork — a lovely blend of creativity and reminiscence. Others took time to look closely at printed travel pictures, chatting about past trips, favourite places, and the feeling of being on a journey.

It was a calm, engaging afternoon filled with memory‑sharing, gentle stimulation, and joyful exploration of one of the world’s most beloved cities.

🌸✨ Pamper Afternoon at Sycamore Lodge with Farhana

Today our lovely residents enjoyed a soothing hand‑spa session led by Farhana, turning an ordinary afternoon into a relaxing, sensory treat.

Bowls were prepared with warm, foamy water, sprinkled with flower petals and fresh fruit slices for a gentle, fragrant soak. Residents dipped their hands in and instantly relaxed — smiles all around, quiet chats, and that cosy feeling of being looked after.

Farhana guided everyone through the pamper routine, offering lotions, nail care, and a choice of bright, cheerful nail colours. The residents absolutely loved showing off their freshly painted nails — especially the vibrant pinks that added a pop of joy to the day.

It was a beautiful mix of self‑care, companionship, and laughter. Moments like these remind us how meaningful small acts of care can be.

Over the last two weeks, our teams have been taking part in 8-hrs Moving & Handling practical training — the annual refresher delivered by our trainer, Demi Watkins‑Toyne.

It’s been a fantastic programme, with every staff member receiving individual guidance, tailored support, and hands‑on practice to strengthen safe working skills. Demi’s personalised approach made all the difference, ensuring everyone felt confident, supported, and fully equipped to provide the safest care possible.

Well done to all involved — great teamwork and great learning. 💙

Stuart has been to the market today and brought back biscuits and chocolate for all the staff. Such a thoughtful gesture that put a smile on everyone’s face. We always promote positive risk taking and independence, and Stuart’s trip out today was a lovely example of both. Thank you, Stuart, from all of us 🥰🥰🥰

Residents spent a lovely afternoon choosing their own autumn theme ID for their bedroom doors. Everyone looked through the different picture sheets filled with cosy autumn scenes — pumpkins, woodland paths, sunsets and colourful leaves — and picked the one that felt just right for them. It was a calm, engaging activity that brought lots of smiles and gentle conversation as residents shared which images reminded them of their favourite autumn memories. Our team will now place each chosen picture on their bedroom door, adding a personal and seasonal touch to the home.

Happy 82nd Birthday, Colin! ❤️

Today we celebrated our wonderful Colin, and our Head Chef Elena created the most beautiful birthday cake — a smooth yellow design with golden decorations, chocolate truffles, and a little sleeping dog made from frosting on top. It was thoughtful, creative and full of charm.

Colin’s gentle nature and warm presence brighten every day at Sycamore Lodge.

Wishing him health, comfort and many more happy birthdays ahead.
