📢 National Fraud Initiative (NFI) – Staff Notice

Helping to protect NHS resources and public funds

As part of the National Fraud Initiative (NFI), our Trusts will be participating in a national data matching exercise designed to help prevent and detect fraud, error and other irregularities.

This process involves securely comparing certain staff and payroll information with data held by other public sector organisations. Data matching helps identify inconsistencies that may require further review. A data match does not mean fraud has occurred, but it may highlight areas that need investigation. This is consistent with how NHS organisations safeguard public funds and protect services for patients.

The NFI is conducted under statutory powers and forms an important part of the NHS's commitment to transparency, accountability and fraud prevention. Our Trust's participate in these exercises to help ensure that public money is spent appropriately and that resources remain available for patient care.
