It’s been a pleasure to work with and alongside Steve over the years. We admire your long service and commitment to the retained fire service.
From all the crew past and present at Seahouses we wish you all the best in your retirement.
🚒 Meet Steve Owens - 32 Years of Service at Belford Fire Station 🚒
“I’ve proudly served as an on-call firefighter with Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service for the past 32 years, based at Belford and supporting the local community.
During that time, I’ve balanced this role alongside a full-time job and raising a family. It hasn’t always been easy, but it’s been one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done.
I’ve seen a lot change over the years too - from more flexible working arrangements to a real focus on diversity and inclusion - and it’s made the service stronger for it.
Right now, Belford Fire Station is looking for new people to join the team. If you’ve ever thought about giving something back to your community, I can honestly say it’s worth it. You’ll be part of a close-knit team, learn skills you can carry with you for life, meet great people, and gain a real sense of purpose - all while earning competitive rates of pay.
If you’re thinking, ‘I don’t have the time,’ I understand that. But you don’t really know what you can give until you come and have a chat with us.
If you’re curious, come and see us - we’d be glad to talk.”
