🌊 HUGE Congratulations 🎊 to Alex - one of our Volunteer Crew Members - who on exercise Passed his Tier 1 Inshore Lifeboat assessment!!! 🌊
Our volunteers have to undertake a variety of physical and theoretical training sessions both on land and at sea in order to pass their ongoing assessments.
Alex covered anchoring ⚓️ , towing 🛥 and mooring / berthing and other operations on our D-CLASS Lifeboat. Alex also recently completed his Seamanship Course at RNLI College in Poole.

RNLI Seahouses Lifeboat Station is looking for a Branch Chairperson to help guide and inspire our dedicated fundraising volunteers.

As Branch Chairperson, you'll play a key role in leading, supporting and motivating a fantastic team of volunteers, helping to raise vital funds that enable our lifeboat crews to launch when they're needed most. From welcoming new supporters to championing fundraising activities in the local community, you'll be at the heart of making a lifesaving difference.

No maritime experience is needed – just enthusiasm, strong people skills and a passion for supporting your local RNLI family. Full training and support are provided, and you'll have the opportunity to develop valuable leadership skills while meeting like-minded people and giving back to your community.

📟 ILB LAUNCH ALERT 📟
010 - 2026

On Sunday 7th June 2026 at 2.35pm our volunteers were paged to an immediate launch by Humber Coastguard to reports of a person in the water in difficulty just off Bamburgh beach. Further information received while the crew mustered at station was that a dog was aboard a kayak having become separated from its owner who was desperately trying to rescue him.

The three strong crew launched our RNLI Seahouses Lifeboat Station D-Class Inshore Lifeboat on service and made best speed in choppy conditions towards the last reported location. Thankfully while en route updates were passed via VHF Radio that the human casualty had safely returned to the shore having battled again the wind and tide. Other assets from partner agency Seahouses Coastguard Rescue Team also arrived on scene.

The crew along with other good samaritan vessels including local trip and fishing boats begun the search for the missing dog a large black Alsation called Bruce. Radio communications between the Serenity Farne Island Boat Tours trip boat and the Inshore Lifeboat established that the kayak had been located North of The Megstone (a small island that forms part of the Farne Island collection) approximately 2.2 Nautical Miles from where it had left Bamburgh.

Incredibly as the lifeboat crew joined the Serenity vessel, their crew had managed to recover Bruce from the water and were warming him up in the wheelhouse. Seahouses D-Class took the kayak and returned it to the owner ashore and the Serenity crew safely returned with Bruce and their passengers to Seahouses Harbour where the two were reunited.

Bruces owner Arron was completely over the moon to be reunited with his beloved animal and said, "I don’t know what I would of done if he wasn’t found I couldn’t bring my self to leave him but there’s nothing I could do when he go so far out"

He also wanted to extend his thanks to our incredible volunteers and the amazing crew members Jimmy & Aaron from the Serenity crew.
"Bruce is ok home safe and sound thanks to the Serenity Crew and everyone involved"

Duty Launch Authority Hugh Fell said, "this a fantastic outcome to what could have been a very tragic situation. We are a station of dog lovers and completely understand the owners desire to save Bruce. However he did exactly the right thing returning to shore and preventing himself from becoming a casualty. A big thank you to the good samaritan vessels who joined the search." 🧡💙

Good Morning and Happy Saturday Everyone,

Earlier in the week we shared that volunteers Chris and Olivia had been away training and successfully completed their Crew Emergency Procedures Course.

Well another dedicated volunteer Alex has also been away training, he attended RNLI HQ Poole the RNLI College to complete his Inshore Lifeboat Seamanship Course.

The Seamanship course is specifically designed to our fleet of vessels, it covers the following elements plus many more.
✅️ - Anchoring
✅️ - Veering
✅️ - Towing
✅️ - Mooring & Berthing

This course is an essential part of the volunteer crew members ongoing training alongside all the training we do at Station. RNLI Seahouses Lifeboat Station Launch Authority and Training Coordinator Ian said,

"This a great course for our volunteers to attend and expand their knowledge and experience. This will help Alex progress through the rest of his Tier 1 & 2 training"

Good Afternoon & Happy Wednesday! 🌊

It's been a busy few weeks at RNLI Seahouses Lifeboat Station, filled with training launches, event planning, and prepping for the Summer Season.

This week, two of our incredible volunteers, Chris & Olivia, headed down to RNLI HQ in Poole for the Crew Emergency Procedures Course (commonly known as 'Sea Survival') RNLI College. This is arguably one of our volunteers' favourite courses due to its challenging and exciting content.

During the course, crew members learn how to:
• Safely enter the water from height in full kit.
• Re-right a capsized D-Class or Atlantic lifeboat.
• Master the safe use of pyrotechnics.
• Along with several other elements and theoretical training.

These are critical elements of their training, ensuring safety and operational competence are always at the highest standard. Both Chris and Olivia passed with flying colors—we are incredibly proud of them! 👏

Volunteer Lifeboat Training Coordinator Ian said: "The ongoing training our volunteers take part in is a reflection of their hard work and commitment. This training is essential to support our mission of Saving Lives at Sea."

Very exciting times for some of our newer crew members, down RNLI HQ at the RNLI College to complete their Crew Emergency Procedures Course. Good luck everyone 💙🧡

A warm welcome to all crews arriving at the College for training this week! 👋

After last week's glorious heatwave, the weather has certainly taken a turn, and we're sadly swapping sunshine for rain, with a rather unsettled week ahead. 🌧️🌦️

Despite the forecast, it's set to be another busy and productive week across the College, with courses including Casualty Care, Crew Emergency Procedures, ILB Maintainer, Lifeguard Development, Seamanship, and many more.

Good Morning Everyone,

This is me Ollie, NEWLY QUALIFIED TIER 2 INSHORE LIFEBOAT CREW MEMBER!!!
Yesterday we launched our D-Class Inshore Lifeboat on exercise I was assessed by an independent RNLI assessor Matt, having committed to hours of theoretical and practical training afloat.
I am also our Station Social Media Officer and newly appointed Lifeboat Press Officer. 📸 📰 🎥
