ROGER BARKER

of Kirkby- Lonsdale, formerly of Warton, and Lancaster, passed away peacefully on the 9th June 2026, aged 83 years.

Loving father of Jonathan, Andrew, Rachel, Alex and the late Laura. Proud grandfather of Joe, Molly, Tommy, Darcey, Charlie, Poppy, Zara, Flo, Lola, Matty and Noah, and dear great grandfather to Jude. Roger will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.

A funeral service to celebrate his life will take place at Beetham Hall Crematorium on Friday 10th July 2026, at 11am. Family flowers only.

Donations in memory of Roger will go to Alzheimer’s Society and can be left at the service or made via

(Née Dawson)
Maureen, of Helmside Road, Oxenholme, passed away peacefully at home on 4th June 2026, with her family by her side, aged 91 years.

Beloved wife of the late John; loving mum to Tracey and the late Gail; mother-in-law to Tony; proud nan to Natalie, Rebecca and Sophie; and adored Nana Maureen to Millie, Elsie, Eloise and Connie. She was a much loved sister and friend who will be sorely missed.

Maureen wished to be remembered with a smile. The centre of her world was her much loved family. She is now reunited with her beloved John and Gail.

Fly free. God bless. She was simply the best.

Funeral service to take place at Parkside Road Cemetery Chapel on Friday 19th June at 1.00 pm.

KATHLEEN PURCHASE

Kate of Fairholme, passed away peacefully at Royal Lancaster Infirmary on 1st June 2026, aged 82 years.

Loving mother duck to Chelsa, proud nanny to Lilly, Orin and Daisy, dear mother-in-law to Peter. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

A funeral service to celebrate her life will take place at Beetham Hall Crematorium on Tuesday 23rd June at 2pm. Those attending are asked to wear colourful clothing.
Flowers are welcome or donations if desired will go to the Wainwrights Animal Centre, Grayrigg.

Chelsa and family would like to express their sincere thanks to Sedbergh Medical Practice, to the district nurses and to Anna Cowin. Their care and professionalism have been very much appreciated.

Dee passed away peacefully in Lancaster, aged 70 years. Much loved wife of Sid, mother to Stephen, and grandmother to Edith. Now reunited with parents David and Elsie, and brother David.

Dee was a wonderfully creative, colourful, and spiritual person who loved the arts. Her family choose to remember her undiminished light, curiosity, and warmth.

Irene Gardner, nee Wightman, of Kendal and formerly of Sedbergh passed away peacefully at Riverside House on 23rd May 2026, aged 96 years

Beloved wife of the late John Gardner.
A loving mother and mother-in-law to Terry and Denise, Stephen and Ruth,
Denise, Trevor and Linda.
A special grannie to Lisa, Jenna, the late Zoe, Philip, Craig, Nicola, Stephanie, Claire, Graham, Laura and Shaun.
