⭐Last chance to apply - Learning and Community Engagement Officer (Part time)⭐

Would you like to play an important role in Chichester's award-winning Novium Museum to help us deliver an ambitious programme of learning and community engagement activities?

We are looking for an experienced and self-driven museum or heritage part time Learning and Community Engagement Officer to join our dedicated and friendly team, based in the centre of Chichester. This position provides an exciting opportunity to support the development and delivery of an ambitious programme of formal and informal learning and engagement activities to all audiences including schools, families, youth, community, students and adult learning groups, both in the museum and the wider community.

Today UKHarvest is at the Beacon Church Selsey (formally known as East Beach Church), Marisfield Pl, Selsey, PO20 0PD from 2:00pm until 3:00pm. Get the support you need whilst helping to fight food waste at our Community Food Hubs. Access affordable food, learn low-cost cooking, and find support on a range of social issues.
WSCC Waste and Recycling Team have partnered with UKHarvest to support seven monthly Community Food Hubs all across West Sussex, in addition to the ones within Chichester District.
The Community Food Hubs are open to everyone and are designed to reduce food waste. Simply bring a shopping bag and ­fill it from a selection of mixed groceries for a suggested donation of £5.00. These are confirmed to run until April 2027.

Delays are possible during the evening of Tuesday 25 August from 7pm to 11pm on Selsey Road, Sidlesham for West Sussex County Council to complete highway maintenance along the verges.
There will be two-way traffic lights in place but please allow extra time for your journey.

🚶‍♀️ Following her Wellbeing Walk with Selsey residents today, Jess Brown-Fuller MP popped into Selsey Town Council to meet the team and learn more about the projects and initiatives we are working on to help improve Selsey.

The Chairman, Deputy Chairman and Proper Officer had a positive discussion with Jess on a range of important local issues, including the need for developer funding to support traffic calming measures in Selsey. They also discussed the PULSE (Peninsula United for Lasting Sporting Engagement) project being proposed by The Selsey Academy, which aims to create a modern community sports hub for the benefit of the whole Manhood Peninsula.

We were pleased to share the feedback from our recent consultation with Selsey's young people, who were overwhelmingly supportive of the PULSE project and the benefits it would bring to the area.

It was also a great chance for Jess to meet Town Council staff and hear first-hand about the wide variety of enquiries and concerns raised by residents through our enquiry line, giving valuable insight into the issues that matter most to our community.

Jess is arranging to hold a Q&A session in Selsey this autumn, and we will share details as soon as the date is confirmed. This will be a great opportunity for local residents to come along and put their questions directly to Chichester District's MP.

Thousands of young people across West Sussex are receiving their GCSE and vocational qualification results today.

Councillor Sam Raby, West Sussex County Council Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Learning, said: “Congratulations to everyone receiving their results today. You should be proud of the hard work, determination and progress that have brought you to this important milestone.

“I would also like to thank schools, teachers, parents and carers across West Sussex for the vital role they have played in supporting students throughout their studies.

“Whatever results you receive, they are just one part of your journey and there are many different routes available. Whether you are planning to move on to sixth form, college, an apprenticeship, training or employment, support is available to help you explore your options and choose the path that is right for you.”

Careers advice and support

Students who have questions about their results or what to do next should speak to their school, which can provide advice about sixth-form places, college courses and other available options.

The West Sussex County Council Careers Team can also provide free information, advice and guidance to eligible young people aged 16 to 24 who live in West Sussex and are not in education, employment or training.

The team can help young people explore opportunities including further education, apprenticeships, employment, training and volunteering.
