🌟 Weekly Base 16 Youth Sessions Recap 🌟
Another fantastic week of supporting and empowering young people through a variety of opportunities designed to help them grow, learn, and lead.
✅ 1:1 SessionsOur individual support sessions provided young people with a safe space to talk, reflect, set goals, and build confidence. These sessions help develop communication skills, self-awareness, resilience, problem-solving, and emotional wellbeing.
✅ Open Access SessionsYoung people came together to socialise, take part in activities, and build positive relationships. Through these sessions they developed teamwork, communication, creativity, respect for others, and decision-making skills.
✅ RSS ProgrammeParticipants engaged in structured activities focused on personal growth and achievement. Young people strengthened their confidence, leadership, responsibility, independence, and ability to work towards positive outcomes.
✅ HMWK ClubYoung people attended HMWK Club to focus on their studies in a supportive environment. They developed time management, organisation, independent learning, problem-solving, and study skills while building confidence in their academic abilities.
✅ Youth CommitteeOur Youth Committee members continued to have their voices heard, contribute ideas, and influence decisions. They developed valuable leadership skills, public speaking, teamwork, planning, organisation, and community engagement skills.
Every session plays an important role in helping young people develop the skills, confidence, and leadership qualities they need for the future. We are proud to see them stepping out of their comfort zones, supporting one another, and becoming positive role models within their communities.

Well done to Staff and Senior Members for making this possible! 👋

Today I had the opportunity to deliver a 1:1 session with a young person, using interactive games and activities focused on mental health and emotional wellbeing.
What started as a fun and engaging activity gradually opened the door to some really meaningful conversations. Through building rapport and creating a safe, non-judgemental space, the young person felt comfortable exploring their thoughts, feelings, and experiences in greater depth.
The session highlighted the importance of key youth work skills, particularly engagement and responsive communication. By actively listening, asking open questions, and responding to the young person’s cues and interests, I was able to support a conversation that moved beyond the activity itself and into areas that were important to them.
Games can often be a powerful tool in mental health work, helping young people express themselves in ways that feel natural and less intimidating. Today’s session was a great reminder that meaningful engagement often comes from meeting young people where they are, building trust, and allowing conversations to develop at their own pace.
A positive and reflective session that demonstrated the value of relationship-based practice in supporting young people’s emotional wellbeing.

Today, during a 1:1 session, we explored the emotion of anger and what can trigger it. We watched a short video together to help start the conversation and identify different situations that can lead to feelings of anger.
We then discussed what anger looks like for her, how it feels in her body, and the ways it can affect her thoughts and actions. This provided an opportunity to reflect on personal experiences and increase awareness of emotional responses.
Building an understanding of emotions is an important step towards developing positive coping strategies and emotional regulation skills. A thoughtful and engaging session with some great discussions throughout.
