A quick update for everyone attending the Burrator tree planting stakeholder event next week. 🌲

We’ve swapped out the BBQ for pasties! Due to the ongoing hot weather and very dry conditions, we are forgoing the BBQ and will instead be serving delicious free pasties.

Avoiding open flames is essential for protecting our grounds at the moment. 🔥🚫

🦎 Check out this fabulous entry from our 2025 Love Your Lakes Photography Competition!

Submitted to the Young Explorers category by Esmay Burley, it shows a common lizard at Fernworthy Reservoir.

On a sunny day, keep an eye out for these little creatures basking on rocks or stone walls around our grounds. But you have to be quick—they move fast!

Based at Burrator Reservoir, you will lead environmental stewardship, maintain high-quality facilities and champion safe, engaging experiences for all visitors across West Dartmoor.

Ready for some incredible views tomorrow? 🌌

Many of our South West Lakes Trust grounds offer prime seats for two amazing astronomical shows Wednesday evening! Catch the partial solar eclipse from around 6.15pm to 8pm and then the stunning Perseid meteor shower peak later into the night. ☄️

Pack a blanket, bring your eclipse glasses and spend a magical evening under the stars! 💫

Burrator tree planting stakeholder event 🌳

We are excited to invite all local stakeholders to a special event at Burrator Discovery Centre on Wednesday, 26 August.

This is your opportunity to get involved and contribute to the discussion around our tree planting initiative designed to improve biodiversity and animal welfare in the catchment.

What's Happening?
Join us for an open discussion on where and how we plan to plant trees in the Burrator catchment area. You will be able to engage with our volunteers and environment team in addition to meeting fellow stakeholders including parish councillors, recreational users, local residents and Dartmoor commoners.
