Great to drop in to Stocksbridge Fire Station to meet the incredible team there and the inspiring cadets that attend their sessions.

It was fantastic to chat to the cadets - hopefully the next generation of firefighters - who were going through all their equipment making sure everything was clean and ready to be used, should they be called into action.

Stocksbridge holds the highest availability of any fire station in South Yorkshire, and has done for several years. The crew there are dedicated, hardworking, and rightly proud of that record.

I heard from the team there about what changes are needed to make the fire station an even better place to work. I'm determined to work with them and the Fire Service nationally make sure that the promise of a new fire station is finally secured.

I'll be following up with South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue and Yorkshire Water on the urgent issues raised, and will be returning to the station for further discussions in the coming weeks.

Our crews have to our Stocksbridge reservoirs placing water safety signs and increasing our presence around local open water sites.

We’re taking the opportunity to speak with members of the public about the dangers of open water swimming, including cold water shock, hidden hazards, and rapidly changing conditions.

As the weather warms up, please think carefully before entering open water and help us spread this important safety message. Stay safe and look after one another. South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue 🛟

A few photos from an incident our crews attended at Kilner Way Retail Park, Sheffield a few nights ago.

On one of the hottest May nights ever recorded, crews from Stocksbridge, Central, Rotherham, Lowedges, Elm Lane and Parkway attended a fire to the rear of a shop at Kilner Way after a call was received at 8:25pm on Monday 25 May.

Firefighters worked quickly to bring the incident under control.

The recent hot weather has meant an incredibly busy week for our crews at Stocksbridge, alongside the rest of South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue, including Firefighters, Control Staff, Community Safety. The list goes on.

A huge thank you to all involved for their continued hard work and professionalism during what has been a demanding period.

As temperatures remain high, please continue to take extra care and help us reduce the risk of accidental fires by disposing of waste responsibly and reporting any suspicious activity.

Hello to our community 👋

It’s been a little while since we last posted, but that certainly doesn’t mean we haven’t been busy. Our crews have continued training hard and attending incidents across the area.

Last night, we teamed up with our fantastic Stocksbridge Fire Cadets for an evening focused on water safety. As the warmer months (hopefully!) start to arrive, more people will be spending time around rivers, lakes, and reservoirs — and unfortunately, that can sometimes lead to people unintentionally putting themselves at risk.

By talking through water safety and sharing knowledge with our cadets, we hope it may one day help prevent accidents and save lives.

We also spent some time practising open water pumping. A few of us got a little wet along the way… although we’re still not sure whether to blame the weather or the hose! 🌧️🚒💦

A huge thank you to the crews who gave up their time to support and train with our cadets, and an even bigger thank you to our cadets themselves — you were amazing!

🚒 International Women’s Day 🚒

This International Women’s Day, we’re celebrating the strength of our community.

These three firefighters from Stocksbridge Fire Station balance full-time jobs, family life, and everyday commitments — yet still answer the call when our community needs them most.

Today we also give a huge shout-out to the incredible women in our community — those who serve, support, inspire, and stand beside those who do. 💪
