If you're concerned about a child or young person playing with fire, it's important to seek support as soon as possible. Contact our hotline on 0114 253 2314.

We can provide:

✅ A Think Family Home Safety Check, where a Community Safety Officer will visit your home, offer fire safety advice and fit smoke alarms if needed.

✅ Tailored support for your child or young person through three school-based sessions designed to help them understand the dangers of fire and its potential consequences. Activities and resources are adapted to meet the individual's needs.

Playing with fire can have devastating consequences. Talk to your child about fire safety:
• Fire is not a toy
• Tell an adult immediately if they find matches or lighters
• Understand the dangers and consequences of fire setting
• Know what to do if there is a fire or if clothes catch fire

Yesterday our crew spent all day and much of the night helping fight the wildfires. 🔥🚒
Coming back to Station to find cards and messages of support waiting for us was a real pleasure.

Your kindness keeps us motivated when we’re tired. Thank you to our amazing community for your continued support — it means so much to us. ❤️

If you’ve got any photos from recent incidents or visits, please feel free to post them in the comments. If you have any pictures or drawings please feel free to post them through our letter box. We’ll add them to our wall at Station! 📸🧱

Great to drop in to Stocksbridge Fire Station to meet the incredible team there and the inspiring cadets that attend their sessions.

It was fantastic to chat to the cadets - hopefully the next generation of firefighters - who were going through all their equipment making sure everything was clean and ready to be used, should they be called into action.

Stocksbridge holds the highest availability of any fire station in South Yorkshire, and has done for several years. The crew there are dedicated, hardworking, and rightly proud of that record.

I heard from the team there about what changes are needed to make the fire station an even better place to work. I'm determined to work with them and the Fire Service nationally make sure that the promise of a new fire station is finally secured.

I'll be following up with South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue and Yorkshire Water on the urgent issues raised, and will be returning to the station for further discussions in the coming weeks.

Thank you to Watch Manager Kirsty and the whole crew at Stocksbridge for your dedication and everything you do to keep our community safe.

Our crews have to our Stocksbridge reservoirs placing water safety signs and increasing our presence around local open water sites.

We’re taking the opportunity to speak with members of the public about the dangers of open water swimming, including cold water shock, hidden hazards, and rapidly changing conditions.

As the weather warms up, please think carefully before entering open water and help us spread this important safety message. Stay safe and look after one another. South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue 🛟

🚒 International Women’s Day 🚒

This International Women’s Day, we’re celebrating the strength of our community.

These three firefighters from Stocksbridge Fire Station balance full-time jobs, family life, and everyday commitments — yet still answer the call when our community needs them most.

Today we also give a huge shout-out to the incredible women in our community — those who serve, support, inspire, and stand beside those who do. 💪

“Here’s to strong women: may we know them, may we be them, may we raise them.”

Thank you to everyone who helps keep Stocksbridge safe. ❤️
