Last week, crews from Aston Park Fire Station were called to Holmes Lock, Rotherham, after a young fawn got itself into a bit of trouble and became trapped in the lock.
Thankfully, firefighters were able to help the stranded youngster back to safety, where it quickly made off to continue its adventures.
While deer are generally very capable swimmers, they can still become trapped or exhausted when they can't find a safe way out of the water.
If you ever see an animal in distress in or near water, please don't enter the water to try and rescue it yourself.
Water can be unpredictable and dangerous. Instead, call 999 and ask for the Fire Service if there's an immediate risk to life or welfare.
