On a gloriously sunny evening 8 years ago today Dr Trevor Ford's ash's were scattered by his nearest and dearest at Treak Cliff.

Dr Trevor Ford OBE was one of Britain's foremost geologists, but beyond his academic achievements he held a special affection for the village of Castleton in Derbyshire and its world-famous Blue John stone. Throughout his career, Trevor devoted countless hours to studying the geology, caves, minerals and mining history of the Peak District, making Castleton one of the central focuses of his life's work.

He became one of the leading authorities on Blue John stone. His book, "Derbyshire Blue John", remains an important reference on the subject. Through his research he helped preserve knowledge of the stone's remarkable heritage and brought greater appreciation to one of Derbyshire's greatest natural treasures.

His connection to Castleton was both professional and personal. He spent decades exploring and surveying the area's cave systems and geological formations, and he maintained a holiday home in the village. Castleton's dramatic scenery, underground caverns and rich mining history provided endless inspiration for his studies and writings.

For Trevor, Castleton was not simply a place on a map. It was a landscape of scientific wonder, history and natural beauty. His lifelong dedication helped ensure that the story of Blue John stone would continue to be understood and appreciated by future generations. Through his books, surveys and research, his legacy remains firmly embedded in the hills, caves and treasures of Castleton.

**Do you recognise either of these men?**

Did your partner, son, flatmate, or mate head out for a late-night adventure and return home absolutely caked in mud and clay, carrying a collection of CCTV cameras they definitely didn't leave the house with?

If the answer is **yes**, then Derbyshire Constabulary would very much like a word with you and we'd quite like our CCTV cameras back too.

And while you're having a look, check out the chap dressed in black. Yes, he really is filming his mate while he attempts to break in. That's some top-tier criminal mastermind friendship right there. Friendship goals, perhaps... just not the sort anyone should be aiming for.
