Working with our partners to deliver care for people in the community at the Newfield Green Neighbourhood Mental Health Centre has been one of the leading principles behind the pilot.

Newfield Green Neighbourhood Mental Health Centre so special 💫

Our centre is one of six pilot sites in England offering mental health care for people in the heart of the community.

Last week, we welcomed Yvette Cooper, secretary of state for health and social care, to Newfield Green where she announced plans for 100 more centres just like it across England.

Newfield Green was chosen for the announcement as a blueprint for how these new centres could work, showing what community mental health care in England could look like in the future 💙

Yesterday, Yvette Cooper, secretary of state for health and social care, visited our Newfield Green Neighbourhood Mental Health Centre to make a major announcement about the Government’s plan to redesign how NHS mental health services are delivered in England.

The key updates include:

£343m in funding over the next two years
100 new neighbourhood mental health centres
59 dedicated mental health emergency departments

Newfield Green is one of six pilot neighbourhood mental health centres in England and is already making a big impact in the Gleadless and Heeley community, offering 24/7 services for anyone who is struggling with their mental health. Our innovative approach to working with the community so we can offer the right care, at the right time, is providing the blueprint for future neighbourhood mental health centres.

We are proud to be paving the way for community mental health care and this significant investment in mental health care will make a huge difference for people across England.

Welcome to an early morning at our Newfield Green Neighbourhood Mental Health Centre, where today we had a very special guest 🌄

Yvette Cooper, secretary of state for health and social care, spoke to the nation’s media and used Newfield Green as a groundbreaking example of the future of mental health care.

The Government wants to replicate this in communities across the country – providing specialist mental health care close to people’s homes 💙

This week Marcia Ulyett, our incredible mental health nurse at Forest Close, is retiring after a wonderful 49 years of service at the NHS ✨

Marcia started working for the NHS in September 1977 where she completed state enrolled nurse (SEN) training at The School of Nursing, based at Middlewood Hospital. She worked at the Royal Hallamshire hospital for seven years, before returning to the organisation now know as Sheffield Partnership in 1980 and she has stayed with us ever since.

The team at Forest Close threw Marcia a surprise retirement party, where they showered her with gifts, buffet and a beautiful cake 🍰

During her time working at the NHS, Marcia has shown compassion and care to every person she has supported and her presence on site will be hugely missed.

Thank you and congratulations on your retirement, Marcia! 💙

Celebrating Penny's graduation 🎓🎉

After two years of hard work and commitment, Penny Ashmore recently graduated following the completion of her foundation degree. This marks a major milestone in her professional journey and she will continue her excellent work as nurse associate at Forest Close.

On the day, she was joined by her family, plus Tracey Wear, placement quality facilitator, Kelsey Thackery and Sarah Williams, deputy ward managers at Forest Close.
