The Cycle Hub

Opened in July 2014 just in time for the Tour de France to pass through town the Cycle Hub was built using funds from the Cycle Rail Fund to encourage more active travel to railway stations, the hub was designed as secure place to store your bicycle while travelling on the trains and increase multi-modal travel. The hub includes toilet facilities and changing rooms along with train information board and ticket collection facilities. The hub was extended in June 2016 to increase capacity from 370 bikes to 525 on two floors.

To access the hub costs £10 and is available from Russell’s Bicycle Shed shop on the ground floor next to the hub entrance. They also provide maintenance and repair facilities along with bicycle hire.

The construction of the hub has helped to reduce the number of cycle thefts around the station and increased the number of people cycling to the station.
