Next week is Carers week 🩷which is an annual campaign to help raise awareness of caring whilst highlighting the challenges unpaid carers face. It is important to recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK.

⚠️ Important information from South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue below 👇

We've recently encountered two pronged plugs in use in properties in Sheffield.

Those travel adaptors and two‑pronged plugs might seem quick and convenient… but they can be seriously dangerous if used incorrectly.

🔌 Here’s why:

- UK plugs are designed with a built‑in fuse to stop wires overheating
- Many two‑pin plugs and cheap adaptors don’t have this protection
- This can lead to overheating, electric shock or even fire
- Poor‑quality adaptors may also lack safety features like shutters or proper earthing

🚫 Never force a plug to fit or use unsafe adaptors in extension leads

✅ Always use properly fused, UK‑approved plugs or conversion plugs

Most electrical fires start silently - don’t let a simple plug put your home at risk.

🌿Yesterday was the first of our Neighbourhood Days in 2026!

Our whole Arches Housing team got involved, working alongside tenants to litter pick, clean streets and clear weeds. We also provided skips for all tenants (including non-Arches tenants) to help tackle fly tipping.

🌧️Despite the cold and rain, the turnout was fantastic and the team did Arches Housing and tenants proud.

These days are all about supporting our tenants, improving safety, protecting the environment and building pride in our neighbourhoods. It was overwhelming to receive such positive feedback, with residents even joining in and offering refreshments.

A brilliant example of what can be achieved when we work together! 💙

🌿Arches In The Community!

This Wednesday, we’ll be out and about in the community, so our office will be closed for the day. Our team will be speaking with tenants and helping to litter pick around the Britnall Street area and Swarcliffe Road.

Getting out regularly like this is really important to Arches Housing. It helps us stay connected, make ourselves available to listen directly to tenants, and keep our communities at the heart of everything we do.

If you’re in Attercliffe or Darnall on 3 June and see us around (in our Arches hi-viz!), please come and say hello - we’d love to chat!
