🎮 Free Training - Gaming & Gambling Harm | Thurs 21st May 2026 🎮

Did you know that EA Sports FC - one of the most played games among children and young people is set to have its PEGI rating changed from 3+ to 16+ from June 2026?
This is because of new rules recognising that paid random card packs in Ultimate Team are a form of gambling mechanic.

This is happening alongside the revised statutory RSHE guidance coming into force in September 2026, which for the first time explicitly requires schools to address gaming and gambling harm as safeguarding issues - from primary age upwards.

Practitioners in Bedfordshire can join YGAM for a free training session on 21st May (1530-1730)to make sure your team is equipped and confident ahead of these changes. CPD certificate and access to resources provided.

We are also offering a session for parents/ carers (21st May, 1800-1930).

Take a look at this important message from Embrace CVoC.

This year’s theme is 'Prevention Through Partnerships'. This reminds us that the safeguarding of children and young people is a shared responsibility. By communities, services and organisations working together, signs can be recognised earlier, intervention can happen sooner and those most at risk can be protected.

National Child Exploitation Awareness Day

This year’s theme is 'Prevention Through Partnerships'. This reminds us that the safeguarding of children and young people is a shared responsibility. By communities, services and organisations working together, signs can be recognised earlier, intervention can happen sooner and those most at risk can be protected.

Child Exploitation can affect any young person, anywhere. Raising awareness is the first step in preventing harm. Listening, learning and acting together creates safer environments where children can thrive.

If you are worried about a child or need support, you are not alone. Help is available:

•In an emergency, call 999.
•NSPCC Helpline: 0808 800 5000
•Childline: 0800 1111
•Report concerns to your local safeguarding services.

Everyone has a role to play when safeguarding children from exploitation. The earlier that concerns are shared, the greater the opportunity is to protect a child from exploitation.

The Stop-CE website has more information on Child Exploitation, the signs and resources: https://stop-ce.org/

Child Criminal Exploitation often hides in plain sight.

It can look like a young person being late, withdrawn, suddenly anxious, or spending time with new friend groups.

But behind those changes, there are sometimes adults who are grooming, coercing, or manipulating them into serious harm.

We know how quickly vulnerability can be exploited - especially when a young person feels isolated from school, community support, or trusted adults. What can appear to be “behaviour issues” is often a sign that something much deeper is going on.

Today, on Child Criminal Exploitation Awareness Day, we’re reminding everyone:
👉 A small change in behaviour can be a big signal.
👉 Ask - start a conversation - don’t assume.
👉 Children are never to blame for exploitation.

If you’re worried about a young person, reach out. Early conversations save lives.
