There’s still time to have your say on the future of Central Bedfordshire.

Our Local Plan scoping consultation is open until 3 June 2026 and is a chance to tell us whether the issues and priorities we’ve identified are the right ones as we develop the plan.

The Local Plan will guide how Central Bedfordshire grows up to 2050, including the homes, jobs and infrastructure we need, while helping to protect our communities and environment.

A reminder to all Central Bedfordshire residents: The scoping consultation is open until 11:59pm on Wednesday 3 June 2026!

Our Local Plan scoping consultation is now open.
In 2024, we asked what was important in making somewhere a great place to live and what should be included in the new Local Plan. This consultation is a chance to tell us whether those issues and priorities are still the right ones as we develop the plan.
The Local Plan will guide how Central Bedfordshire grows up to 2050, including the homes, jobs, and infrastructure we need, while helping to protect our communities and environment.

Thank you 👏👏 to everyone who joined us at the Shefford Town Council Annual meeting lastnight. 🎉🎉

It was an opportunity to give thanks to staff, volunteers & those who live or work in the town. To acknowledge just how much works goes on behind the scenes by so many people to address, champion causes and support a range of situations.

We heard from councillors the importance about the roles & responsibilities that the council manage throughout the year along with some challenges.

One of our Councillors & Shefford Festival lead spoke about the festival this year in September.

We welcomed a talk from a resident who has been working with the council to push for action regarding the potholes in Old Bridge Way; as well as other roads.

In support of small businesses; Izzy gave a summary of her new business Chocca Treats. She also provided a selection of her wonderful biscuits for everyone to take away.

Ester of Secret Shimmers was showcasing her beautiful candles, scents and had lots of give away gifts for everyone. She gave us a fabulous talk about Made in Shefford. This showcases small businesses in the town.

Each year awards are given to individuals / groups nominated for their contributions to the community. It’s truly humbling to hear the heartfelt, well meaning, selfless stories as well as innovative projects that benefit people.

We gave out nine awards under the categories: Community, Young person, Mayors Special, Civic Award.

A huge well done to everyone. The time that people give to the community is priceless and it’s a honour to be able to give thanks in this way.
Not everyone was able to attend the evening; so those awards will be delivered to them.

It’s also important to acknowledge any nominations that didn’t receive an award this year. Thank you to you all for your hard work too.

A finally thank you 👏 to the STMA for the use of the venue; it was very much appreciated.
