WATER SAFETY
Warm weather can make open water look inviting — but rivers, lakes, canals and quarries can be extremely dangerous, even for strong swimmers.
Before entering open water, remember:
⚠️ Water temperatures can be dangerously cold
⚠️ Currents and sudden drops are often hidden beneath the surface
⚠️ Slippery edges and steep banks can make getting out difficult
⚠️ Hidden debris, rocks and underwater hazards may not be visible
If you get into difficulty:
🛟 Tilt your head back, float on your back and try to stay calm
🌊 Move your hands and legs to help you stay afloat
📣 Call for help
📞 If someone else is struggling in the water, never put yourself at risk by entering the water to rescue them. Call emergency services and, if possible, throw something that floats.
At Location Medical Services, we want everyone to enjoy the sunshine safely and responsibly this summer. ☀️
Please share with family and friends and let’s try and keep one another safe.
