Built by Sir Walter Raleigh in 1594 and the stately home of the Digby family since 1617, Sherborne Castle is a Historic House which reflects a glorious variety of decorative styles from over 400 years of English history. 'Capability' Brown created the 50-acre lake in 1753 and gave Sherborne the very latest in landscape gardening, with magnificent specimen trees, borders and sweeping lawns in one o

f his finest Lakeland landscapes. Enjoy 42 acres of beautiful gardens and grounds, and experience the beauty, peace and tranquillity of this perfect natural setting. Our Tea Room serves morning coffees, light lunches and delicious afternoon teas. The Gift Shop has a selection of gifts, souvenirs and our very own Sherborne Castle wines. 🍂💚 Wonderful colours reflected at Sherborne Castle & Gardens 💚🍂

After the long drought of 2026, the little rain we’ve recently had is very welcome indeed! 🌧️💧 The gardens are beginning to show the full richness of autumn, with glorious golden and green tones reflected beautifully in the calm waters of the lake. 🍁🌳✨

There’s something wonderfully peaceful about this time of year — a chance to slow down, breathe deeply and enjoy nature at its best. 🍂🦆

🌊🪿 Meet Cliff – the newest member of the Sherborne Castle team! 🪿🌊

We’re delighted to introduce Cliff the Scarecrow, our latest recruit, now proudly keeping watch over the Boathouse Pier! 🧑‍🌾🎩

But Cliff has a very important job… he’s been brought in to deter those cheeky seagulls who have developed a rather unfortunate habit of pooping on the Boathouse benches!💩🪽😂

And, of course, there’s only one joke we could possibly tell…

What do you call a man with a seagull on his head? 🤔
