⚠️ With continued exceptionally high demand on our ambulance service, we’re seeing some 999 calls that could be better managed elsewhere.
Examples include people calling us because they:
☀️ Have spent too long in the sun
🍺 Have had too much alcohol and are feeling hot or dehydrated
🥵 Are feeling uncomfortable because of the heat but are not seriously unwell
While these symptoms can feel unpleasant, they can often be managed safely at home or with advice from NHS 111 or your local pharmacy.
If you are out in the heat, please remember:
💧 Drink plenty of water
🌳 Stay in the shade where possible
🧴 Protect yourself with sunscreen
🍻 Be mindful of alcohol intake in hot weather
Please only call 999 if there is a serious emergency. Choosing the right service helps us reach those whose lives are at risk.
