🚓 Neighbourhood Policing Week 2026🚓

It’s officially Neighbourhood Policing Week, but here in Shildon, every week is Neighbourhood Policing Week.

Over the past week, our officers and PCSOs have been busy tackling crime, safeguarding vulnerable people, engaging with our community and supporting our colleagues across the force area.

Some of the highlights include:

🏠 Safer Homes Visit completed
🏍️ Off-road bike seized
🛴 E-scooter seized
👮🏼 Wanted male Harry Edwards located and remanded in custody for numerous offences. Updates to follow.
🚔 1 male arrested for stalking-related offences
🚨 1 female arrested for assault
🧍‍♀️ 1 female arrested for controlling and coercive behaviour
🥾 foot patrol throughout the town
🤛 1 male arrested for affray
🥊 1 female arrested for assaulting a police officer
📷 officer have conducted cctv enquiries in relation to numerous reported incidents

❌Male issued with a Domestic Violence Protection Order (DVPO) following domestic incidents
🚗Successful vehicle pursuit in the Shildon area

👮🏼 Officers assisted colleagues in Newton Aycliffe following a public order incident
💥 Officers attended numerous road traffic collisions across the area
🅿️ Officers attended Timothy Hackworth School alongside DCC Parking Wardens to address parking concerns
🛣️ Officers visited Timothy Hackworth School to work alongside Junior Road Safety Officers during our first engagement session
✅ We now have the assistance of our eyes in the sky - PCSOs Brown and Barton are now fully qualified drone pilots

While these are just some of the jobs we’ve dealt with this week, they reflect the varied nature of neighbourhood policing and the commitment of the team to keeping our communities safe.

🚨 CCTV Appeal – Theft of Tent Box 🚨

We are appealing for CCTV footage following the theft of a Tent Box at approximately 1am on Wednesday 27th May from the Jubilee Estate.

Officers are currently investigating the incident and are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell footage from the area around the time of the theft.

We would like to thank the community for the significant amount of footage already received. Officers are continuing to review enquiries and work to track the whereabouts of the stolen Tent Box.

Anyone with further information or footage that may assist is asked to contact us quoting incident number 26 of 27th May.

We are appealing for information following an assault on a male cyclist travelling along The Locomotion Way, behind Greenfield School, today (Wednesday 27th May 2026) at approximately 16:15hrs.

The male sustained injuries and is currently in the care of the ambulance service.

🚓 𝗦𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗼𝗻 𝗡𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗯𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 – 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸𝗹𝘆 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 🚓

🚨 Unfortunately, we received a large number of reports of attempted burglaries and suspicious activity across the area, including reports earlier this week of two males trying door handles. Sadly, one resident had a vehicle stolen. Following quick-time enquiries and with assistance from our eagle-eyed DRAP officers 👀, a long pursuit was carried out and concluded safely, resulting in the arrest of two males 👮‍♂️👮‍♂️. Enquiries remain ongoing.

🛍️ Officers assisted Newton Aycliffe NPT with arrest attempts linked to multiple shoplifting incidents.

📍 PC Findlay supported Ferryhill and Spennymoor NPT in executing a warrant.

🏡 PCSOs Barton and Brown conducted Safer Homes visits following the recent increase in suspicious activity incidents and to provide crime prevention advice and reassurance to residents.

💙 Officers attended an address following concerns for welfare.

🤝 Following consultation with our ASB team, multiple MISC submissions have been completed to support ongoing problem-solving work and partnership engagement.

📄 A Community Protection Warning (CPW) has also been issued in relation to ongoing issues within the area.

🚔 One male was arrested after failing a roadside drugs test.

🚗 Two males were arrested following a pursuit involving our Roads Policing colleagues, with a vehicle seized under Operation Takeaway.

🚑 Officers assisted the Ambulance Service following a single-vehicle road traffic collision, with one male taken to hospital.

👣 PCSOs have continued high-visibility foot patrols throughout the town, alongside ongoing CCTV and reassurance enquiries following recent burglary reports.

🚗 Officers are also currently dealing with an incident whereby a vehicle collided with the perimeter of a residential property. One arrest has been made however further enquiries are still ongoing 🕵️‍♂️

❌ A cloned vehicle was sighted in Shildon this afternoon. A pursuit was authorised and concluded with an arrest and seizure of vehicle

🚨 Shildon Police Community Update 🚨

We are urging residents to remain extra vigilant following a significant increase in burglaries and vehicle interferences across the area over recent weeks.

Officers are actively investigating these incidents and carrying out enquiries, patrols, and intelligence work to identify those responsible 👮🚔

We are asking everyone to please take a few simple steps to help protect your property:

🔒 Ensure all doors and windows are locked, even if you are only leaving for a short time
🚗 Always lock your vehicles and never leave valuables on display
🔑 Keep vehicle keys out of sight and away from doors/windows
📶 Consider using Faraday pouches/bags for keyless vehicles to prevent signal theft
💡 Leave lights or CCTV on where possible to deter offenders

Unfortunately, opportunist criminals will target insecure properties and vehicles, particularly during late evening and overnight hours.

👀 Please keep an eye out for anything suspicious in your street or neighbourhood, including:
- Unknown persons trying vehicle door handles
- Suspicious vehicles driving slowly around estates
- People acting unusually around homes or parked cars

📞 If you see anything suspicious, report it to us immediately. Your information could make a huge difference in preventing further offences and helping identify offenders.

🚓 Shildon NPT Update 🚓

It’s been another extremely busy period for officers across Shildon and the surrounding areas, with the team continuing to tackle crime, safeguard vulnerable people, and respond to incidents across the community 💙

Here’s a snapshot of what your local officers have been dealing with 👇

🔹 Officers executed a drugs warrant as part of ongoing work targeting drug-related activity in the area 🚪⚖️

🔹 Officers successfully located a high-risk missing person, ensuring they were returned home safely 🙏

🔹 One male was arrested for breach of a DVPO, criminal damage, and theft from a person. Investigations remain ongoing 👮

🔹 One female arrested for assault following an incident attended by officers 🚔

🔹 Officers assisted ambulance colleagues with a medical incident, helping ensure the individual received urgent care 🚑

⚠️ Lead thefts in the area ⚠️
We are continuing to investigate a recent spate of lead thefts across the area… again! Unfortunately these offences can cause huge disruption and costly damage to buildings. Please remain vigilant, keep an eye out for suspicious vehicles or behaviour, and report anything suspicious to us as soon as possible 👀📞

🔹 Two females arrested for shoplifting and taken into custody following incidents reported by local businesses 🛒

🔹 Another high-risk missing male was safely located by officers and returned home safely 💙

🔹 Officers attended an immediate response to assist Ferryhill NPT to locate a wanted male following numerous shoplifting offenses.‼️

🔹 PCSOs have carried out high-visibility patrols across Shildon and Newton Aycliffe to tackle anti-social behaviour and provide reassurance to the public 👣

🔹 Officers assisted Newton Aycliffe NPT in responding to reports of off-road bikes causing nuisance and danger around local areas 🏍️❌

🔹 One male was arrested following a missing person incident after assaulting a police officer. On a separate occasion, the same male was further arrested for possession of Class B drugs, stalking, and causing intentional fear and distress.

🔹 Welfare visits have continued to be carried out for vulnerable residents across the community to ensure support is in place where needed 🤝

🔹 Officers also responded to a road traffic collision and assisted at the scene 🚗💥

🔹Our Police drone has been used multiple times over the last week to locate Off Road Bikes causing a nuisance. Also used to locate wanted males following numerous offenses.

🚔 Shildon NPT Weekly Update 🚔

• Officers were involved in a pursuit involving a vehicle that failed to stop. The driver was successfully located, arrested, and taken into custody. 🚗💨👮‍♂️

• There has been an increase in vehicle crime in and around the area. We are reminding residents to remain vigilant—please ensure vehicles are locked and consider the use of CCTV where possible. 🔒📹

• Three individuals were arrested following an aggravated burglary. 🚨

• High-visibility patrols have continued throughout the week to provide reassurance and deter crime. 👮‍♀️👮‍♂️

• A prolific shoplifter, Harry Edwards, was located, charged, and sentenced to 22 weeks in prison. ⚖️

• Officers attended Thornhill Primary School alongside Year 5 pupils for a mini police workshop in partnership with DAAC. 🏫👨‍🏫

• A successful pursuit from Shildon to Darlington resulted in the arrest of a male for disqualified driving, failing to stop, dangerous driving, and driving without insurance. 🚓

• A male was arrested following a road traffic collision after failing a drug wipe. Enquiries are ongoing. 🚗🧪

• A stolen motorbike was located, recovered, and returned to its owner. Enquiries are still ongoing. 🏍️

• A quad bike stolen from Cumbria was recovered from the back of a lorry at Hackworth Industrial Estate. 🚛

• Officers assisted the ambulance service in responding to a male experiencing a medical episode. 🚑
