🚨 Garage burglaries – Shildon

We’re aware of two garage burglaries overnight in Shildon and are carrying out enquiries.

Please take a few minutes to check your garages and outbuildings are secure. 🔒

Safer home advice:
• Keep garage doors and windows locked, even when you’re at home.
• Don’t leave tools, bikes or other valuables on display.
• Consider security lighting, alarms or CCTV.
• Keep keys secure and away from doors and windows.
• If you notice anything suspicious, report it to police.

It’s been another busy week in Shildon, with a wide range of incidents, proactive activity and partnership work taking place across the area.

Here’s a look at some of what the team has been up to:

🛡️ Two high-risk missing from home (MFH) incidents were dealt with, with both individuals located safely.

👮 A male was arrested for domestic violence offences.

🚓 Two pursuits in Shildon were brought to a safe conclusion by officers.

🔬 Officers located a stolen vehicle, which was forensically seized as part of ongoing enquiries.

🚗 Officers attended a road traffic collision (RTC) and dealt with the incident.

🛍️ Stop searches were carried out in relation to concerns surrounding door-to-door sales.

🚑 Officers assisted ambulance crews with a concern for welfare.

🔑 Method of entry (MOE) was utilised to safely gain access to an address to assist ambulance staff.

🤝 Officers have taken part in numerous multi-agency meetings, working alongside partner agencies to support individuals and address local concerns.

🛸 The police drone assisted officers in the seizure of an off-road bike.

📡 A vehicle reported stolen activated an ANPR camera, allowing officers to locate it within minutes.

🧓 A Herbert Protocol was carried out following a missing from home episode, helping to safeguard a vulnerable person.

🚶 Foot patrols have been carried out in high-demand areas, providing a visible policing presence and allowing officers to engage with the local community.

🧤 Officers have conducted scene preservation at relevant incidents to protect evidence and support investigations.

🎯 A wanted male was located and arrested by officers.

📹 CCTV enquiries have been carried out in relation to ongoing reported incidents.

⚠️ A male was arrested for domestic violence offences, assaulting a police constable and threats to kill.

🏠 Two males were arrested in connection with a burglary.

🚁 DRONE 1️⃣ – OFF-ROAD BIKE 0️⃣! 🏍️

Aycliffe & Shildon NPT have been out tackling the ongoing issue of illegal off-road biking — with a little help from our very own Shildon NPT drone pilot. 🚁👮‍♂️

Our eyes in the sky spotted an off-road bike, which was then pushed into a back yard in an attempt to get it out of sight.

Unfortunately for them, the drone had other ideas! 👀🚁

Officers on the ground located the bike and seized it — another one off the streets and one less causing noise and nuisance for our local communities.

So, if you think pushing your bike into a back yard means it’s disappeared…

Think again. The drone’s still watching! 😎🚁

👮‍♂️ Out on foot patrol in Shildon with the Sgt — and it didn’t take long for some action!

Within 10 minutes, he’d made an arrest. A good reminder that you never quite know what you’ll encounter when out on patrol. 🚶‍♂️

𝐔𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐁𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐍𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐝 (𝐍𝐏𝐓) 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐞 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐬 👮‍♀️👮‍♂️

Following some confusion we’ve had from members of the public about the different roles of our Neighbourhood Police Team and Response Team, we wanted to take a moment to explain the difference.

This was also raised during our PACT meeting last night, so we thought it would be useful to provide some clarification.

🔵 Neighbourhood Police Team (NPT)

Our Neighbourhood Police Team focuses on long-term problem solving, prevention and working closely with our communities.

Their responsibilities include:

• Working with residents, businesses, schools and partner agencies to identify and tackle local issues.
• Responding to community concerns and priorities raised through PACT meetings and other engagement.
• Carrying out targeted and high-visibility patrols in areas experiencing ongoing problems.
• Tackling anti-social behaviour and other recurring community issues.
• Gathering intelligence and identifying longer-term solutions to local problems.
• Working with partner agencies to address issues and support vulnerable members of our community.
• Engaging with residents and businesses to provide reassurance, crime prevention advice and updates.

🔴 Response Team

Our Response Team provides 24/7 policing and responds to emergency and urgent incidents where an immediate police presence is required.

Their responsibilities include:

• Responding to emergency and urgent calls.
• Attending incidents where there is an immediate risk to people or property.
• Dealing with crimes in progress and other time-critical incidents.
• Arresting offenders and taking immediate action where appropriate.
• Preserving evidence and dealing with incidents that require an immediate response.
• Supporting other policing teams when required.

Both teams play an equally important role and work closely together. Information and intelligence are shared between teams to ensure incidents and ongoing issues are dealt with by the most appropriate officers.

🚔 SHILDON POLICE – WEEKLY UPDATE 🚔

It’s been another busy week for the team here in Shildon, with officers dealing with a wide range of incidents, safeguarding concerns and proactive policing activity. 👮‍♂️👮‍♀️

Here’s a snapshot of some of our work this week:

🔴 Our most wanted male was located and arrested in connection with numerous serious offences.

🚨 A female was arrested for recall to prison.

🚑 Officers assisted ambulance colleagues with a medical emergency, providing support until the situation was safely dealt with.

🚗 A vehicle was seized under Operation Takeaway after being found to have no insurance.

🚓 A vehicle failed to stop for officers, resulting in a pursuit which was safely brought to a conclusion.

🏠 A male was arrested for domestic-related offences and subsequently served with a Domestic Violence Protection Order (DVPO) at court.

⚖️ A male was arrested for breaching a court order and was returned to prison to serve a further sentence.

🚔 Another male was arrested in relation to domestic-related offences.

💥 A male was arrested for common assault.

🚗 Officers have also attended numerous road traffic collisions (RTCs) throughout the week, assisting those involved and ensuring scenes were made safe.

🛸 Our drone has been utilised for intelligence gathering and to assist with arrest attempts, supporting officers on the ground.

🔎 Numerous individuals reported missing have been safely located, with safeguarding measures put in place where required.

🏠 Officers have carried out visits to vulnerable individuals, as well as completing Safer Homes visits to help reduce risk and provide crime-prevention advice.

🦸‍♂️ Officers were also pleased to attend the Superheroes Sponsored Walk at Locomotion, supporting the event and engaging with members of our community.

🧠 A Herbert Protocol was completed to support the safe location of a vulnerable missing person.

We have seen a rise in youth ASB in Hackworth Park this week. Can parents please be aware of where there children are/who they are associating with and what they are doing. Officers have planned patrols in the area to target the issues.

🚔 SHILDON NPT – WEEKLY UPDATE 🚔

It’s been another busy week for the Shildon Neighbourhood Policing Team. Here’s a look at some of the work carried out by officers and PCSOs across the area:

🔹 A female was apprehended at scene following an incident of shoplifting. She was taken to custody, was charged and is to appear at court in due course..

🔹 One male was arrested in relation to theft offenses. He has received a custodial sentence.

🔹 Officers carried out welfare checks to our vulnerable residents.

🔹 We assisted our colleagues at Newton Aycliffe with an arrest attempt for a male wanted in connection with a shoplifting offence.

🔹 A male was arrested following a pursuit involving a stolen quad bike. Enquiries are still ongoing in relation to this.

🔹 A stolen vehicle was located and successfully returned to its owner.

🔹 A further male was arrested in connection with a burglary.

🔹 Two missing people were located and safely returned home.

🔹 A male was arrested following a domestic incident.

🔹 A male was arrested for failing to appear at court and breaching a court order, and was subsequently remanded in custody.

🔹 A male was arrested for breaching a Domestic Violence Protection Order (DVPO), with a prison sentence following.

🔹 A male was arrested in relation to theft and handling stolen goods.

🔹 A vehicle was seized, with the driver reported for driving whilst disqualified. He was also arrested and taken to custody.

🏠 Herbert Protocol: We also continued to support vulnerable people and their families through the Herbert Protocol.

🏡 Safer Homes: Our team have also been out carrying out Safer Homes visits, offering advice and practical support to help residents feel safer in their homes.

🔹 Community Engagement - Officers attended Shildon Fun4All on Saturday. We held a stall which displayed safer homes equipment, spoke with everyone and met some future Police officers!

🎺 Officers also assisted Aycliffe Neighbourhood Policing Team at the Aycliffe Brass Festival, helping to ensure the event was safe and enjoyable for everyone attending.

PCSO Rutterford has now been with the Shildon Neighbourhood Policing Team for a month and is settling in well. She covers the Sunnydale and Eldon beat area, so if you see her out and about, don’t hesitate to stop and say hello. She looks forward to getting to know the local community and working with residents to help keep the area safe.
