What a brilliant 4 days with YP attending our “Smashing Life Into Independence Course” in Shropshire

We grew up with Shropshire Council as our corporate parents so to give back and be positive role models to children in our area is a privilege we don’t take lightly

What a busy 4 days, vulnerability, honesty, acceptance, accountability, fun, and so much more as we help workshops, team building, games and space for conversations

We are proud of EVERY YP that attended, it takes courage BUT having role models in care who are willing to give back and show that despite your past you can smash life is something we KNOW will inspire, redirect and Show everyone that they can absolutely love the life they deserve….it starts with US

A huge shoutout to the virtual school for working with us on the project - their commitment passion and care shined through - we felt it and so did the YP - through every conversation trust is cemented which means essentially YP can still dream, believe and achieve.

Thanks Reach For Inclusion a wonderful AP based in Shrewsbury for the use of your wonderful venue - you guys inspire us with the work you do every day

A huge thanks to our CEP community for attending virtually to inspire Bethaney Dixon Adelphi – Adulting, Together® & Kierra Myles - offering advice , hope and inspiration 💙

Thanks Rhianne Lilley from Red flag academy your session on relationships was brilliant - these are exactly the conversations / awareness that is needed đź‘Ź

“Smashing Life Into Independence” post 16 4 day course

WOW what an incredible 4 days in Worcester - the 2nd year working with the virtual school delivering our post 16 project

This project proves the POWER of lived experience - watching YP walk in on the first day feeling anxious, nervous and ALONE due to the unfortunate circumstances they are in which is no fault of their own - TO leaving on day 4 with a community, showcasing their amazing personalities, equipped with REAL advice, knowledge and support - understanding and most importantly KNOWING that they CAN thrive in Life DESPITE what they have encountered

The changes we see in 4 days is incredible and for yp to say “it’s nice to be around people that GET how we feel” really validates our WHY - we can relate to the struggles, feelings and reality BUT we can be role models and remind, encourage and PUSH these amazing YP to “be the best they can be” - because they absolutely can. We provide a relaxed, caring atmosphere where YP can come and be themselves.

It’s an emotional 4 days - we have honest frank conversations, we provide spaces to listen, we push the YP out of their comfort zones but most importantly we provide a community!

From cooking in a budget, the world of work, reframing the care experience, relationships, car maintenance, self care, wellbeing ETC we cram so much into 4 enriching days - BUT everyone leaves with a sense of purpose and pride.

A huge thanks to the virtual school - Jess & Jill who are just amazing in their encouragement and support

Thanks to the incredible Bethaney Dixon & Lee Weston for attending virtually to provide some care experienced inspiration - Rhianne from red flag academy for providing a fantastic session on DV & relationships

what a brilliant venue - thank you for allowing us to use this space - we really appreciate it

And to every YP attending - you inspire us, BUT you also show us that you are so much more that your situation AND you will smash life!

Wow - what a crazy last few weeks of term - we have been 100MPh but there has been some memorable moments to share

Here’s a few

1. Our staff end of academic year meal - some of our wonderful team met up at .shropshire for an evening of food, reflection, laughs and together! Great to support our friend .lad venue and try the amazing food đź‘Ś

2. Presents for some super amazing children we support in one of our contracted primary schools - the amazing Lightmoor Primary who we have worked with for 5 years. We can’t speak highly enough about the staff and children at this school - brill culture & a place where children THRIVE

3. Some end of term present/ gifts for the amazing children we support in other schools - some journeys are ending and some are paused for the summer break đź’™

4. A Gym session for an amazing 16 year old boy we support - sessions like this seemed so far away at one stage BUT with persistence, conversations, support and self belief HE is smashing it đź‘Ś

5. Flowers 🌺 for our amazing mentor Jane - a token of appreciation from foster carers

6. A letter to treasure - a wonderful letter from foster carers to our mentor Jane - a connection & impact that has been FELT by everyone involved đź‘Ź

7. Helping with the virtual school West Midlands football tournament - shoutout to our two wonderful young leaders Charlie & Zack who were superb referee’s ensuring the day was FUN, safe and played in the right spirit 👌

We LOVE what we do - we’re doing the IMPORTANT connection work that EVERY child needs in order to dream, believe & achieve

An end of academic year 2025/26 from us.

We have absolutely loved this year and want to take this opportunity to thank all the children that have trusted us, all the schools that have believed & trusted us to support their children, all our wonderful staff that carry the love, care and values into practice every single day

We are extremely proud of our service and can’t wait to start again in September for 2026/27

Last Weekend we had the pleasure of attending the virtual school West Midlands football tournament

Due to our close links with the virtual school we were asked to sponsor & help run the football tournament - OF course we said YES!

It was lovely to see our friends Sean from & Michael from
attend and also help sponsor / support the day - days like this require Commitment from the community and these guys are ALWAYS committed

It was lovely to see many of the children we support in our SEMH services represent virtual school - all wearing the brand new kits which were designed from a inspirational football event we held - where the children met and were inspired by our ambassador former professional footballer Billy Jones who played for , in a career spanning 17 years. The group also worked with our head of media Kev to design and create a logo for their new kit - which they wore with PRIDE on Saturday.

It was also lovely to see our friends from Dudley, Staffordshire & Wolverhampton

We saw children turning up, excited, nervous, apprehensive & some worried naturally - we welcomed, we ensured basic needs were met, we role modelled kindness by gifting socks, shin pads and kit and offered words of encouragement whilst reminding everyone this was FUN.

What we notice having run clubs events and activities for many years is it’s all in OUR welcome, it’s the small details, it’s sometimes understanding why a child behaved in a certain way, knowing when to have a conversation, setting expectations and boundaries but being HIGH on PRAISE & FUN - no one held events like this when we were in care and we KNOW the event will be a core memory for the children attending to reflect back on with pride.

What an amazing day - we also held a raffle where every child attending had free entry to and some won some pretty cool prizes - EVERYONE attending was treated to food, drink, cake and it was Lovely to see carers turn up in great numbers to support

A huge well done to our young leaders Zack & Charlie who were just brilliant referees for the day đź‘Śđź‘Ź

We have been super busy recently - Let’s look back on some of the great stuff..

1. We are still BUZZING from such a great fun day working with and / virtual schools. A day that provided fun, connection and memories to last a lifetime.

2. A present from a child for our awesome mentor Jane as the sessions draw to a natural ending. For a child to go out of their way to express their gratitude is huge đź’™

3. Our “All Action” hero Rich displaying another of his many talents being host & DJ at the recent Fun Day. Rich has a unique talent of “bringing people together” and we are so proud to have him as part of our team.

4. A Letter from a child to our brilliant mentor Jane - WOW - when a child writes “Thank you For helping me with your kindness & Care you KNOW you have amazing staff and the right approach 👌

5. A foot golf session @ Horse Hay golf club for an amazing young man we support - it’s not just football golf it’s movement, it’s conversations, it’s it’s connection and it’s FUN…

6. Receiving amazing feedback from a school pastoral lead following the conclusion of mentor Sophie’s sessions in school with a child!

7. Delivering training in Birmingham for Foster Uk - an interactive, inspiring and connection based session giving the wonderful foster carers more solutions, connection tools and insights into the worlds of children in care.

8. It’s always a pleasure to spend time working with Sean from where connection and kindness is a way of life! A wonderful human with a big heart ❤️

9. A day for us to learn and be inspired by our fellow CEP friends. virtual school designated teacher conference a chance for us to learn, and also see so many of the brilliant designated teachers who put children central to their practice EVERY day.

10. A brilliant day at the West Midlands football tournament- a pleasure for us to sponsor & Help at such a brilliant event

Mentoring Feedback

We were delighted when a school pastoral lead took the time to send this wonderful feedback in regards to our mentor Sophie’s support of a child.

This is part of our commissioned mentoring working closely with virtual school and staying in constant communication / discussions with connected adults to the children we support

A child in care who may have experienced so much hurt, loss and rejection in their early years will naturally ask the following through words, actions or behaviours

1. “Can I trust you?”
2. “Am I safe?”
3. “Will you let me down?

So it’s important that we focus on what we can, our approach, our kindness, our body language, our actions and ensuring the child is at the centre of EVERYTHING we do. Everyone in the process needs to understand connection takes TIME, we have to remain consistent and ensure we can as adults in a children’s ever changing world remain a constant

We will always remain committed to our approach - it works and children FEEL & VALUE it

A few weeks ago Andy & Matt were asked to attend the Healios Uk annual staff conference in Birmingham and deliver a keynote speech

What a pleasure to attend and deliver a keynote combining our childhood in care, combined 45+ years in social care & service delivery perspective of over 8 years - what we see, observe and stand for as a service for children

We took lots of the keynote “back to basics” focussing on what we can control as caring human beings and how / why our approach is so important as essentially “children don’t care what you know until they know that you care”

We had some brilliant interaction from the professionals and clinicians in attendance and have received some wonderful feedback since

What a simply amazing day the the third Smash Life Bridge Cheese football fun day

To see so many children we support attend with families, carers and support was just incredible

The day was all about fun, community, belonging and participation - watching our amazing children shine and have fun

Amazing to see the virtual schools from Shropshire / Telford attend / help as well as professionals who wanted to come and watch,
