Community Resource

Community Resource Community Resource is committed to making life better for people and communities in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin.

Community Resource (formerly known as Shropshire RCC) is a charity that is committed to making life better for people and communities facing challenges in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin. We deliver this work across three main areas:

Wellbeing & Care

We support people to stay active and connected to their communities and to maintain their health and independence so they live life to the full. We do

this through a range of community-based projects with the help of a team of local and committed volunteers. Community & Support

We work with voluntary groups so they can help meet the need in their local area, enable local people to improve their work prospects through access to transport and support rural communities to access competitive heating prices through our Oil Buying Club. Funding & Advice

We connect people who care with causes that need their help through our community fund, offer guidance to households to help them save energy and keep warm and provide advice to local meeting places and groups through our membership scheme.

For one gentleman living with hearing loss, sight loss and difficulties with dexterity, a broken hearing aid could have meant losing an important connection to the world around him.

Thanks to support from a Community Resource volunteer, he was able to get help with the repair and continue using his hearing aid with confidence.

Stories like this show why our hearing loss support hubs matter.

Following the loss of funding for this vital service, we are fundraising to help keep this support available for people across Shropshire who rely on it to stay connected, confident and independent.

Looking for support with your next steps? Come and chat with us at the Telford Autism Hub this Friday.

Louise, one of our project officers from the Employability and Enterprise Programme, will be at the monthly Information, Advice and Guidance Drop-In Session to talk about how we can support people aged 18 to 30 years.

Our programme offers:
• volunteering opportunities
• wellbeing support
• business start-up workshops

We also work with our partners All About Youth and Shrewsbury Town FC Foundation to offer additional support.

We support people to build confidence, develop skills and think about their next steps, whether that’s volunteering, training, starting something new or moving towards work.

A brilliant reflection on yesterday’s Living Well with Dementia, Sight and Hearing Loss Exhibition from My Shrewsbury.

Together with our event partners, Radfield Home Care Shrewsbury & Oswestry and Sight Loss Shropshire, we brought together nearly 80 organisations at Theatre Severn for a day focused on helping people discover support, technology and opportunities available across Shropshire.

A huge thank to our headline sponsors, Ethical Workforce Solutions - Award Winning Training and Shrewsbury u3a, as well as In The Loop for sponsoring the Digital Drop-in Hub and Housing Plus Group for sponsoring the shuttle bus.

It was wonderful to see Theatre Severn filled with people discovering the support, technology and opportunities available across Shropshire.

There were some fantastic highlights throughout the day, from trying out a prototype virtual guide dog, to exploring adapted cycles and meeting some very special guide dogs.

Thank you to everyone who exhibited, attended, volunteered and supported the day. We really appreciate everyone who helped make the event such a welcoming and informative experience.

Did you come along yesterday? We would love to see your photos from the day - share them in the comments below 📸
