Hive Shrewsbury We are an independent charity. Working with disadvantaged & vulnerable young people across Shropshire However we are not just an arts venue in Shrewsbury!

The Hive’s venue programme varies from cinema to live theatre, language classes to toddler groups, life drawing sessions to holiday workshops, open mics through to wrestling, plus world-class jazz and folk concerts – with lots more too! As a venue, we believe we have continued to strengthen the Hive’s position as one of Shropshire’s premier locations for quality entertainment and aim to offer cult

ural opportunities to cater for all interests. We look forward to welcoming you to Shropshire’s hidden gem and encourage you to discover just how much is on offer. The Hive is committed to a pedagogic approach as a first principle of our outreach work with children and young people. Our focus is on the support for a child’s overall development, the emphasis is on team work, collective and reflective practice and a greater understanding of children’s rights and contributions to society. The Hive works closely with partner agencies to set up projects and programmes that give young people – particularly those who are at risk, vulnerable or living in challenging circumstances - the opportunity to participate in creative activity - this could be music, dance, animation, film-making, theatre, crafts or visual arts – our mission is to enable young people to engage in positive arts and cultural experiences provided by the Hive across Shropshire. Whilst you read our case studies, browse the Hive website and interact through our social networks, we would appreciate you taking some time to consider how you might wish to get involved in supporting young people in Shropshire realise their creative ambitions.

Next month drummer Gaz Hughes returns to SJN at the Hive with his exciting trio partners Gavin Barras (double bass) & Andrzej Baranek (piano). Rooted in the timeless tradition of the piano trio, they breathe fresh life into standards and mix in a few of their own original compositions for good measure. Calling all Star Wars fans!

Fresh from a sell-out residency at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the new and acclaimed show embarks on its 2026 tour. Award nominated stand-up and improviser Jon Hipkiss brings together the ultimate celebration of comedy and fandom. Based solely on your suggestions, Jon will improvise an entirely new Star Wars film all by himself. He's all the trailers, all the characters, all the music, the ships, everything. Expect beautiful chaos!
