The Shrewsbury Ark The Shrewsbury Ark, Homeless Support Shropshire, Registered Charity No 1163476 Anyone can access the Ark during these times, without referral or appointment.

Located 2 minutes walk from Shrewsbury Railway Station, The Shrewsbury Ark is open Monday - Friday, 9-2pm, providing access to a range of services helping those in need to manage their day-to-day lives. Drinks, snacks and meals to those without access to food or cooking facilities are always available. We do not provide overnight accommodation but can work with partner organisations to gain access to funding and locate suitable housing and we never charge for our services. Whatever a person's background, circumstances or difficulties, they are assured of a safe, non-judgmental environment where they can find a warm welcome, hot drink and a listening ear.

Taking steps towards a lasting home 🏠

This week, Helen introduced two more clients to the Ark’s tenancy readiness programme.

Working in a small group helped them talk openly about difficulties with previous tenancies and what could help them in the future.

Both shared how they’d relied on temporary accommodation during times of crisis. Through the session, they began to see more choices for a longer-term home, including private renting and social housing.

The programme offers space to ask questions, learn useful skills and build confidence in managing a tenancy.

What a lovely way to share the harvest!

A huge thank you to the members of St Mary’s Church who collected donations for the Ark as part of their Harvest Festival.

Coming together over a service and lunch, and extending that kindness to people in our community, is something worth celebrating.

Your generosity helps keep meals on the table and support close at hand for people who need the Ark. Thank you to everyone who gave and helped make it happen!

Everyone deserves a safe place to call home. 🏠

Today is the UN’s International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, and this year’s focus is Safe Homes for All.
Here at the Ark, that connects closely with our new tenancy readiness programme, helping people prepare for a tenancy and feel more confident about managing a home of their own.

Finding somewhere to live is a big step. Having support to settle in and make it a lasting home matters too.

Everyone deserves somewhere they can feel safe, settled and hopeful about the future. ❤️

It’s been another busy week at the Ark!

There’s been creative work with volunteer Jess, hair braiding and haircuts, with plenty of time for a chat along the way.

Our volunteers have been busy as always, cooking, cleaning, organising our storeroom and helping with admin. Their hard work helps keep the Ark running smoothly and makes such a difference every day.

We’ve also welcomed new donors, who had a chance to look around and see the care and support offered here.
Our team has been working with other organisations to help people get the right information and support sooner.

A big thank you to our staff, volunteers and supporters, and everyone who’s joined in this week. It’s the people who make the Ark special.

A big thank you to Bryan, who celebrated his 90th birthday and chose to raise money for the Ark instead of receiving gifts.

đź’™ THANK YOU THURSDAY! đź’™

This week we're saying a huge thank you to Barratt Homes, and especially David Williams from their Shrewsbury team, who has gone above and beyond to help us transform our new craft room!

David spent an entire day helping us clear the room and paint the floor in a wonderful mix of colours. And when he couldn't quite finish everything in one day, he came back the next to complete the job!

The results are fantastic, as you can see from the photo!

But it wasn't just his hard work that made an impression. David also spent time chatting and laughing with the people who use the Ark, who thought he was brilliant. He even earned himself the nickname “Sausage” along the way!

Our new craft room is part of our plans to create more opportunities for people to get involved in activities, learn new skills and enjoy spending time together.

We're also delighted that Barratt Homes staff have the opportunity to volunteer with us, and that their team are kindly putting together goody bags of essential toiletries for the people we support.

Thank you, David, and everyone at Barratt Homes. Your kindness, time and generosity really do make a difference.
