This week is Volunteers’ Week, and all week we have been recognising some of the amazing people who support the Ark.

There are many more people we would love to thank, and we simply couldn’t mention everyone. Every volunteer, supporter and friend of the Ark makes a difference, and we are incredibly grateful.

We are now looking at developing a new programme of afternoon activities, which will link in with our new posts funded by the National Lottery Community Fund.

To help us deliver these sessions, we would love to hear from anyone who might consider volunteering their passions, hobbies or skills. This could be anything from art, music, photography, cooking, gardening, crafts, local history, wellbeing activities, or simply spending time with people in a positive and supportive way.

A form to get in touch is in the links below.

Please feel free to comment below or share this with anyone who might be interested.

This week, Phil, one of our wonderful volunteers, delivered an afternoon talk on the history of Shrewsbury for the guys at the Ark.

Phil has spent many years working in Shrewsbury’s museums and historic buildings, and brought a real depth of knowledge, warmth and enthusiasm to the session.

The level of interest and feedback from the guys was incredible. Sessions like this bring a real sense of normality, connection and community. They create relaxed, reflective time where people can come together, learn, ask questions and enjoy something different.

A huge thank you to Phil for sharing his time, knowledge and passion with us.

We are already looking forward to the next session.

This week is Volunteers’ Week, and we want to say a huge thank you to Shropshire Homes.

We are lucky and proud to be their Charity of the Year, and their support has meant so much more than financial help alone.

Their team have given many happy and helpful volunteer days to the Ark, working hard alongside us with painting, ripping out old flooring, and helping prepare the way for our new training room, which we hope will be finished in the next few weeks.

We are extremely grateful for their kindness, generosity and practical support, and for becoming extended members of the Ark family.

Thank you, Shropshire Homes.

A huge thank you to the fabulous ladies of the Maeflower dancers. Somehow you managed to combine football, ballet, belly dancing and flamenco to create a fantastic show and raise money for the Ark. Slighty bonkers? Quite possibly. Utterly brilliant? Most definitely! You are an inspiration ladies and we are very grateful for your support.
