📍 We’re in Montford Bridge!

Yesterday, Sam, Tom, and new member Jake hit the doors to chat with residents about local concerns like speeding, as well as bigger national issues.

Next up: Justice to Water launches next week — tackling river pollution and fighting for needed reforms. Don’t miss it! 💧✊

📍 On Sunday, Arthur was in Birmingham, campaigning for safer roads.

In 2024 alone, over 341 under-29s lost their lives in driving-related incidents across Great Britain. In Shropshire, we still feel the heartbreak of losing Harvey Owen, Jevon Hirst, Wilf Fitchett, and Hugo Morris. The lives of our friends are being cut far too soon.

Too often, young people die behind the wheel. Too often, pedestrians, schoolchildren, teenagers just walking home, are taken from us.

This has to change.

On Wednesday I joined 5000 people in Westminster for the Act Now, Change Forever mass lobby. Whilst, due to particular circumstances, I was not able to meet with Julia Buckley MP, I have since contacted her with my relevant concerns. In Shrewsbury, we must tackle the climate crisis and the cost-of-living crisis in tandem. Let’s lower our bills, protect our communities, and save our rivers.

It was a day of exhibitions, where I talked with so many amazing people. I met those wanting water security in poor countries, those wanting to protect the UK’s beautiful range of birds, those wanting to defeat the oil & gas lobby, and much more. If anyone wants to hear more about what I did, feel free to DM this account!

This Pride Month, we honour the strength, beauty, and resilience of our LGBTQ+ communities—past and present. Pride began as a protest, and it remains a fight for freedom, dignity, and justice.

At Shropshire Young Labour, we stand in solidarity with every q***r person facing oppression, exclusion, or violence—here and across the world.

Pride is not just about visibility. It’s about showing up for each other. Loudly. Bravely. Together.

While last month’s Supreme Court ruling was said to bring clarity, we know it has brought uncertainty to many. This Pride Month, we recognise and stand with those who are still made to feel like they don’t belong. Too often, the debate in this country is toxic—and it needs to change.

So let’s be clear: equality means everyone. Speak up, whether it’s in conversations, hangouts, or rallies—because silence helps no one. Every voice counts when challenging the cruelty that’s become too common.

You’ll see us standing by our friends all year round, because love is love every month—and that never changes.

With love,
Sam, Chair

Thank you to everyone who campaigned for our local election candidates across Shropshire this year. It wasn’t the result we hoped for, but we’ll continue to fight hard for our cause. I attended the count as Charlie’s guest and was glad to see some of our brilliant councillors re-elected. There’s lots to do over the summer—see you then. 🌹

With just two days to go until the local elections, Charlie’s been all over Shrewsbury—this week meeting residents in Column and Harlescott, listening to what matters most and fighting for real change on the doorstep.

Every conversation brings the same message: people are tired of being let down. They want action—on buses, on housing, on the basics that make life work. And they deserve leaders who’ll fight for that every day.

Labour is out there—every ward, every street, every voice. This Thursday, let’s turn up and demand better.

Vote Labour on May 1st—and let’s make them listen.

Charlie was in Monkmoor this week, backing Cllr Pam Moseley as they took the conversation to the doorstep. Over the weekend, Sam and Charlie hit Oteley, Reabrook & Sutton with Cllr Phil Gillam and our brilliant MP Julia Buckley. Meanwhile, Florence was in Bayston Hill, pushing Alan Pankhurst’s campaign forward.

Across Shropshire, the message is loud and clear: people are tired of cuts, delays, and broken promises. They want safer roads, better buses, stronger support for families, and investment in the spaces that bring communities together.

Labour isn’t sitting back—we’re out there, fighting for every voice and every future.

This Thursday, it’s your chance to turn frustration into change. Your chance to demand better.

Vote Labour on May 1st—and let’s make them listen.

Charlie and I have been out talking to residents all week and have had some brilliant responses as we work to support their local issues. The local elections are around the corner, and I want to say thank you to my fellow young members who have been out regularly to support the local party and our beautiful county of Shropshire. A big thanks especially to Charlie and Florence, who have been consistently involved — I’ve really enjoyed knocking doors alongside them throughout.

Shropshire has been let down—let’s take it into responsible hands. Vote Labour on May 1st.

One week to go.

Sam and Florence in Column & Sutton. Ollie in Shifnal North. All across Shropshire, we’re out there—on the doorstep, in the rain, having the conversations that count.

People are tired. Tired of a Shropshire council that says one thing and does another. Of years of cuts, delays, and empty promises. But they’re not giving up—and neither are we.

Labour’s got the energy. The ideas. The people ready to lead. But we need the mandate to make change real. That’s what this week is about.

This is the final push. Every knock, every call, every vote could be the difference.

Vote Labour on May 1st—and let’s make them listen.

This weekend, we were back on the doors across Shrewsbury—listening, connecting, and backing councillors and candidates who are working every day to build a fairer future for Shropshire.

Charlie joined Cllr Pam Moseley in Monkmoor, while Ollie campaigned for Cllr Kevin Pardy in Sundorne. Sam spent Saturday reconnecting with Labour members as part of our final push. The message from residents was clear: they’re tired of broken promises—but they’re not ready to give up.

People want better. Labour is ready to deliver it.

From safer roads and better buses to improved—we’re offering a plan rooted in fairness, community, and care. Whether it’s support for children and families, or investment in leisure spaces and social care, we believe in building a Shropshire that works for everyone—not just a few.

Happy Easter from all of us at Shropshire Young Labour. We’ll be back next week, continuing our push for a Shropshire that works for everyone. This May, your voice matters. Your vote matters. Together, we can turn things around.

Vote Labour on May 1st. Let’s make them listen.

We get it. People are tired. Tired of empty promises. Tired of politics that feels distant and self-serving. On the doors in Belle Vue tonight, Charlie and Cllr Kate Halliday spoke to residents who’ve been let down—by a council that’s stopped listening, and by a system that seems to work for everyone except the people who keep it going.

But here’s the truth: giving up doesn’t fix it. Walking away only gives more power to those who’ve caused the mess. And tonight, we saw something powerful—people who were angry, yes, but also ready to hope again. People who know it doesn’t have to be like this.

Local elections might not feel like a revolution—but they’re where change begins. Not in Westminster, but right here. On your street. In your town. Labour is ready to clean up Shropshire, repair the damage, and rebuild something fairer, with and for the people who live here.

If you’ve been disillusioned, you’re not alone. But you’re also not powerless. Your vote matters. And this May, it can help turn the tide.

Vote Labour on May 1st—and let’s make them listen.
