📚🍎 Back to school today? More families could now qualify for free school meals.

If you're receiving Universal Credit, it's worth checking whether your child may be eligible under the new rules.

The changes mean more families could benefit from support with school meals, so if you haven't checked what you're entitled to recently, now could be a good time to take another look.

Free School Meals are expanding — and this could mean much more than a free lunch.
From the start of this term, eligibility for Free School Meals in England is expanding to include all children in families receiving Universal Credit.

Around 500,000 additional children are expected to qualify.

But there’s another important impact.

For some families who aren’t currently claiming Universal Credit, the expanded Free School Meals entitlement could provide another reason to check whether they are missing out on support they’re entitled to.
