This female blackbird was brought to us after she was found grounded and out of condition. πŸ¦β€β¬›

🏨 On further inspection her right eye looked swollen and is possibly going through a moult, which may explain her messy feathers.

🀎 She was also very subdued during the first few days and we were unsure if she would pull through but she is starting to look a tiny bit more alert. She is being assessed for potential underlying illnesses to determine a treatment plan.

βœ¨οΈπŸ˜‹ She is eating some of her seed but then likes to make a mess of the rest!

We have received quite a few pigeons and collared doves in our hospital recently. πŸ•Š

🏨😯 In last week we had 60 new admissions, not including the ones already in our care. The recent change in the weather and high winds may have caused many of the young ones to be blown from their nests or adults to collide with buildings or vehicles.

🀍🩢 Rearing young pigeons is quite labour intensive as they have to be tube fed by hand several times a day. The injured adults may also need vet treatment and medication.

✨️ Despite the busy summer season coming to the end we are still seeing an influx of wildlife casualties that need help.

πŸ™ We are grateful for your continued support so we can help these delightful pigeons and other wildlife patients.

This young hoglet is suffering from a severe case of mange. πŸ’”πŸ¦”

πŸ•· Mange is a painful skin disease caused by tiny parasitic mites that burrow into the skin, leading to intense itching and spine loss.

🏨🀎 This is highly contagious and can spread to other patients so unfortunately for this little one she is being housed in isolation while on treatment.

βœ¨οΈπŸ¦” She is eating well and she is exploring her incubator which is good to see for such a small poorly hoglet.

We are currently caring for these 4 young abandoned rabbits after they were found without mum. πŸ‡πŸ°πŸ‡πŸ°

🀎😍 Apart from being alone and afraid these little ones were otherwise perfectly healthy. Demonstrating that mum was doing a good job rearing them until sadly she didn't return. It is unclear if something happened to her to leave her babies unattended for so long. But unfortunately this is quite common.

πŸ¨πŸ’š Now in our care these rabbit kits are eating well. They are currently transitioning from milk replacement formula to leafy greens. They seem to be tolerating the change and enjoying munching their kale.

✨️ They will remain in the hospital ward for a few more weeks until ready to face the outside world again.

Honestly, you are the absolute best!!! There are just no words 😒

🀩 Following our appeal for pet food and other essential supplies from our wishlist you were all so unbelievably kind and generous.

🀩 These were just a few of the items we received from our Amazon Wishlist this weekend. This is not including all the items dropped off in person or collected by businesses.

πŸ¦”πŸ¦… With dozens of patients in our care following a very busy summer these donations will make a huge difference to their recovery and the many more patients due to arrive in the coming weeks.

✨️ Knowing we have a stocked food barn and our patients will be well fed over the next few weeks is a big weight off our shoulders.

Can you spot your parcel πŸ˜†

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! πŸ™βœ¨οΈ
