New month means new Adult Reading Challenge theme!
For August we're asking you to have a browse of the Bookshelf of Youth. ✨
We've selected a range of books from the children and teen sections of the library for our display, but you can choose to read any junior fiction book to complete this challenge! Take a trip down memory lane with a favourite from your own childhood or pick up a picturebook if you'd like a quick read - the choice is yours...
Come and tell us what you read before the end of August to be entered into our monthly prize draw. ⭐
Remember: this reading challenge is all about having fun! Read whatever, however and whenever you like - audio, ebook, comics - we're happy to count it all! 😊

Less than one week until Chris Foster Tolley will be here at Sidmouth Library to talk about his novel 'Trip '89' - partly set during Sidmouth Folk Week! Join us for this talk on Monday 3 August, 3-4pm.
Set in the late 1980s, Trip ’89 is an immersive, coming-of-life odyssey that follows its main character, Cea, across a rapidly changing British landscape. A major turning point in the novel takes place right here in East Devon, when Cea visits Sidmouth during Folk Week – an experience that provides him with a profound, transformative sense of belonging.
Chris will be reading some excerpts from the book that feature Sidmouth and the Folk Festival, discussing the real-life inspiration behind the novel and answering questions from the audience.
This talk is free but spaces are limited so please contact Sidmouth Library staff to book your place.
