We are working with partners to organise more One Swale Roadshows to help people struggling with the cost-of-living crisis.

The first round of events helped over 300 people, by bringing them together with 21 organisations that offered valuable support and advice.

This included free energy saving products, free clothing, health checks, advice about housing, finance and foodbanks, as well as some finding out how to save up to 45% on their water bills."

Following this success we will be hosting a series of events up until the end of March 2024 with each month having a theme.

December's theme is Fuel and Emergency Support, which allows for more targeted help to reach the people who need it, but guidance and assistance on other topics will still be available.

📆Friday 15 Dec
📍 Sheppey Gateway, High St, Sheerness, ME12 1NL

📆Tuesday 19 Dec
📍 Eastern Sheppey Community Hub, Nutts Ave, Sheerness, ME12 4QQ

These events are partly funded by the UK Government's Household Support Fund.

Have your say on our proposed budget for the next financial year.

Every year, the council must set a balanced budget to make sure the money we spend delivering services is in line with the money we have available.

The draft budget outlines £3.5m of proposed savings, efficiencies and increased income, leaving a budget gap of £1.36m, which would be funded from reserves if further savings are not identified.

All council tax collected in Swale is shared between Kent County Council, Kent Fire and Rescue service, Kent Police and town and parish councils.

This means we receive only 9p out of every pound of your council tax bill.

This limited funding is used to provide a wide variety of services such as waste and recycling collection, street cleaning, maintaining parks and open spaces, environmental protection, housing benefits and more.

Read the draft budget and have your say here:

**VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY**
Do you live in Faversham? Do you enjoy cooking? Do you find yourself having leftovers? How about giving this to a neighbour who is lonely, or unable to cook a good hot meal themselves. Not only will you be helping someone in need, but you can also strike up a good friendship. Interested? Please contact Food Friends for more information:

Volunteers often ask us…what happens if I can't deliver a meal as usual...maybe I'm unwell or am going on holiday?

To that we say rest up if you're not feeling good and have an awesome time if you're on holiday!

Volunteering to COOK, SHARE and CARE is flexible and based around the fact that life can be busy and unpredictable.

You and your food friend will arrange meal deliveries between yourselves, you just need to let them know what's going on for you so they can keep up to speed.

Once you've developed a firm food friendship you may find yourself sending a postcard when on your travels!

Did you know that 69% of charities affected by fraud in 2022 suffered financial losses? Imagine the impact that stolen charity funds could have made in helping people in need.

As it’s , here’s a reminder of the simple steps you can take to help protect your charity:
