Have a read of this, not my words but are very very true !!
How can we make this better for the future of our children and country!!
The average student loan debt is £53,000.
Add three or more years of not earning and you are £150,000 behind before life even starts.
150,000 people now have over £100,000 in student debt. One person owes £298,000 before earning a penny.
56 percent of people will never pay it off because the interest compounds.
A doctor with a £77,000 loan was charged £30,000 in interest in just three years.
Student loans were meant to fund education. Instead, they trap people in debt, often for life.
Only 30 percent of graduates get jobs related to their degree. Many employers say graduates are not real world ready.
Graduate starting salary is £24,000.
Skilled non graduate roles pay £21,000 to £30,000.
So what is the point?
I used to think university made sense for traditional careers like doctor or lawyer. But even those roles are now being reshaped and replaced by AI.
Meanwhile, universities offer degrees in:
Puppetry
Viking Studies
Star Trek Philosophy
Then they wonder why people are broke.
What we actually need are trades:
Electricians
Plumbers
Engineers
And modern skills:
AI content
Social media
Automation
Half the young people I meet understand these roles better than their tutors.
University is not education anymore. It is a national debt trap.
Something has to change. Maybe it is the entire education system?
