Group Captain McAllister, Comdt 6FTS has recently signed an extension to LAFT 2 which secures a further four years of support from Babcock International Group to 6 FTS, Army Flying Grading and RN Grading.

The LAFT2 contract is fundamental to fixed-wing elementary flying training, underpinning aircrew generation across the RAF and wider Defence, delivered through a wide range of Defence sites.

On Tuesday 19 May, the RAF Cranwell Chaplaincy team hosted members of the RAF Widows’ Association for a tour of College Hall, the Heritage & Ethos Centre and St Michael’s Church. The event gave the members an opportunity to visit a Station where some of them had previously lived and/or served, as well as rekindling friendships and building a supportive network within the wider Royal Air Force family.

The group thoroughly enjoyed the tours and learnt plenty about RAF Cranwell and its history and they hope to return in the future.

In March and May, 6 FTS delivered the Leadership Development Foundation Programme (LDFP) workshop to University Air Squadron students, as part of the 6 FTS Ground Training Syllabus. The workshop introduced students to the RAF’s leadership language and aimed to develop their understanding of the fundamental principles that underpin effective leadership within the Service. Through a combination of theory-based lessons, group discussions, and practical activities, students explored the core tenets of leadership in the RAF. The workshop encouraged active participation, allowing students to share perspectives, reflect on leadership behaviours, and consider how these principles apply within a military environment. Overall, the LDFP workshop provided a valuable introduction to RAF leadership concepts and helped students begin developing the skills and mindset expected of future leaders.

A massive congratulations to RAF Cranwell’s Football Team the “Super Eagles” who returned victorious last week from the Zeeco Stadium Stamford, winning the Lincolnshire Service Association Football League Plate against Royal Engineers Wks Group (170 Eng Gp) First Team. What made it even more impressive was it was the team’s first finals day appearance since 2016!

Despite strong winds, Cranwell took an early lead with a penalty, followed by quick goals to make it 3-1 by half-time. The second half saw a hat-trick completed and further goals, finishing 5-1.

We were delighted to welcome the Watoto Children’s Choir from Uganda to RAF Cranwell this week as part of their International Tour.

During their visit, the children enjoyed seeing different parts of the Station, with the highlight being an uplifting concert at St Michael’s Church, where they performed alongside Cranwell Primary School and musicians from the RAF College Band.

The Children’s Choir are ambassadors for the Watoto charity, sharing messages of hope, joy and resilience through music and dance, and it was an unforgettable experience for all who attended.

Thank you to everyone across the Station who helped make their visit so special.
