We’re introducing a booking system for our Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs), and we know some people are concerned that this may lead to an increase in fly-tipping.

We want to reassure you that evidence from other councils who have introduced booking systems showed that fly-tipping decreased.

The facts ➡️

♻️ West Northamptonshire Council saw a decrease in fly-tipping in the five months following the introduction of a booking system

♻️ West Sussex County Council saw a decrease in fly-tipping in the three years since bookings were introduced at some of their HWRCs

♻️ Kent County Council did not see an increase in fly-tipping since bookings were introduced

♻️ Independent research commissioned by DEFRA found no link between booking systems and increased fly-tipping

♻️ The Local Government Association found no evidence that proves a link between booking systems and increased fly-tipping
