Sandwell Council have been awarded a £4.5 million National Lottery grant to restore West Smethwick Park, paving the way for a massive £5.1 million face lift.

As well as restoring heritage features, like the James Chance memorial, and improving the sports pitches and gym equipment, the grant will be used to build a new community pavilion and provide exciting new events and activities in the park.

There’s so much happening across the park- come down, get involved, or just soak up the atmosphere!!

🏃Fun Run
Organised by the amazing Friends of West Smethwick Park supporting Arrive Alive to help provide vital support to save lives across the Midlands 🚑

Not running? Come along and cheer on the runners 🥳
⏰Registration opens 9:30am
🏃‍♂️Runners set off for 5k or 10k at 10:30am

🛍️ Car Boot & Community Stalls
⏰ Open from 10am until 3pm- a great opportunity to browse, buy, chat & support local groups!

⚽ Sports Activities & Inflatables
Perfect for families and anyone wanting to burn off some energy!

🧘 Park Yoga - 9:30am
Free and open to all. Just look for the Park Yoga Sandwell flag.

🎶 Sound Bath with Jas - 10:30am
A calming moment in a busy day.

🚶 Sandwell Men’s Mental Health Walk – 1:30pm
Join the group standing shoulder to shoulder walking for Men’s Mental Health. No need to book, just turn up for a gentle walk through the park.

☕️ Our cafe will be open all day serving a great selection of drinks & snacks 😍

It’s a packed day- come along and be part of it! 🌳💚

💚 We're standing shoulder to shoulder and walking for Men's Mental Health this June. Please join us at one of our six walks at parks across Sandwell.

🌳🚶 All walks are free to attend, open to all abilities, and welcome anyone who may benefit from fresh air, movement and informal peer support.

The hour-long walks will take place on:
🗓️ Friday 12 June 2026
📍 Victoria Park, Tipton - Meet at the War Memorial at 10.30am
📍 Brunswick Park, Wednesbury - Meet at the play area at 1.30pm

🗓️ Saturday 13 June 2026
📍 Dartmouth Park, West Bromwich - Meet at the War Memorial at 10.30am
📍 Britannia Park, Rowley Regis - Meet by the multi-games area near the car park at 1.30pm

📍 Lightwoods Park, Smethwick - Meet at Lightwoods House at 10.30am
📍 West Smethwick Park, Smethwick - Meet at the Pavilion at 1pm, plus family-friendly activities from 2pm - 3.30pm
