This afternoon Snaith Fire Station attended a house fire caused by sunlight reflecting off a glass ornament in the window. Fortunately fire damage was limited and smoke was ventilated by crews.

To prevent these kind of fires keep glass ornaments, mirrors, and crystals away from windows or direct sunlight. Move concave items such as shaving mirrors into shaded areas and check crystal decorations that act as magnifying lenses. Use curtains or blinds during peak sun hours even when the sunlight doesn't seem strong.

Today we will attend the Great Heck Rail Disaster 25th Anniversary Rememberance Service at Selby Abbey.

Our thoughts are with the families of the 10 people who tragically lost their lives. Rest in peace.

A damp, grey day is always made brighter by meeting up with our colleagues from West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service and North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service for a joint RTC Drill. A massive thanks to our friends over at Garforth Fire Station for hosting us and Selby Fire Crew today. It's great to join up with other stations to learn from each other and to share our knowledge. We look forward to the next one. (We'll bring the biscuits next time!)

A massive thank you to our friends over at Yorkshire Ambulance Service HART Team for inviting the Snaith Crew along with Pocklington Fire Station, to take part in a breathing apparatus drill. It's a great set up there and really pushed us to our limits but it was great fun. We hope to see you again soon!

It was great to join Goole White Watch this morning for a combined drill to practice our ladder work and some rope rescue. It's always useful to join up with our neighbours to keep our skills up to date.

Polite Reminder,
Can we please ask members of our community not to park in front of the fire station on the double yellow lines or the hatched area on the forecourt.

We understand that parking in the town centre is limited, however Snaith Fire Station is operational and requires access for firefighters responding to emergency calls as well as a clear route out for the fire engine.

We have noticed an increase in non-compliance with the road markings, forecourt markings and signage. Please share this post to help your firefighters respond swiftly and safely to emergencies in our community, thank you.

This morning the Snaith crew had the pleasure of heading over to Garforth Fire Station to take part in an RTC (Road Traffic Colision) exercise with our colleagues from West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service and North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service . Exercises like this are really important as due to our location, we regularly attend incidents outside of Humberside's area. This helps us develop great relationships with our neighbours and learn new skills and techniques from each other. Thanks for the invitation Garforth Blue Watch and see you again soon.

Today at 18:39, Snaith Fire Station stood in solidarity with our firefighting family across the country as we held a minute’s silence in honour of the firefighters from Oxfordshire who tragically lost their life in the line of duty.

Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with their family, friends, and colleagues during this incredibly difficult time.

Rest in peace, and thank you for your service.
