University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UHB), which runs Solihull Hospital and Community Services, is one of the largest hospital Trusts in England. The Trust also runs Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, Heartlands Hospital, Birmingham Chest Clinic and Good Hope Hospital in Sutton Coldfield as well as a number of smaller satellite units enabling people to be treated as close to home as possible. Solihull Hospital, based near Solihull town centre, provides a range of outpatient and inpatient services for its local community. As one of the largest teaching hospital trusts in England, UHB serves a regional, national and international population. The Trust sees and treats more than 2.2 million people every year across our sites and our hospitals deliver more babies than anywhere else in Europe.

Meet Wasim πŸ‘‹

This AHP Day, we're celebrating our Allied Health Professionals and the difference they make to patients every day.

Wasim helps to deliver specialised patient-centred care and rehabilitation directly within a patient's home or care centre.

He promotes exercise and independence and his goal is to keep people safe within their own home and support them to live independently for longer.

Wasim says the best thing about being a community physiotherapist is helping to support confidence and supporting people to regain their independence in the place that they feel most comfortable in.

As part of Baby Loss Awareness Week, families across Birmingham and Solihull are warmly invited to a special remembrance service titled A Time to Remember.

This gentle and reflective service offers a safe space for anyone affected by baby loss to come together, honour the memory of their babies, and find comfort among others who understand. Whether your loss was recent or many years ago, all are welcome to attend and share in this moment of remembrance.

To mark the end of Baby Loss Awareness Week, families are also invited to take part in the Wave of Light on Thursday 15 October, lighting a candle in remembrance. University Hospitals Birmingham Charity has created a special online dedication page, Wave of Light, where families light a candle to commemorate their babies who sadly died too soon.

As we continue with Admin Week, we are continuing to celebrate some of our brilliant administrative colleagues across UHB.

Meet Bradley and Aman, the team leads for UHB's Complex Discharge Team.

Bradley leads the team across Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham and Good Hope Hospital while Aman leads the team at Solihull and Heartlands hospitals.

The Complex Discharge Team works with patients, families, healthcare professionals and community partners to help patients leave hospital safely when they are medically ready to do so. The team supports hundreds of patients each year to find the right place in the community, whether that's a care home, rehabilitation setting or support package at home.

Their work helps patients move on to the next stage of their recovery while ensuring hospital beds are available for those who need them most.

Bradley and Aman are incredibly proud of their team and the difference they make every day. By coordinating complex plans, bringing together multiple organisations and keeping patients at the centre of every decision, they help some of our most vulnerable patients get the support they need in the right place.

This week we're celebrating some of our brilliant administrative colleagues across UHB as part of Admin Week.

Meet Sue, a medical secretary in dermatology at Solihull Hospital.

Sue has spent an incredible 29 years working in a variety of roles at Solihull Hospital. During that time, she has supported patients, colleagues and services across the hospital.

Sue says one of the best parts of her job is working with a fantastic team, including three brilliant consultants. While the role is busy, she sees herself as a "cog in a big machine" and knows every task contributes to patient care.

Patients are at the heart of everything Sue does. She takes pride in helping services run smoothly and supporting colleagues to deliver the best possible care.

Thank you, Sue, and all our amazing administrative colleagues, for the difference you make every day. πŸ’™
