We are a fire protection company based in Shirley near to Birmingham. The attached photos are the result of an electrical fire, due to faulty wiring which happened just before Christmas in 2021.

The property we rent had not had any electrical testing, or mains wiring tests for some time, a small electrical arc occurred late at night which in turn ignited some (sealed, but incorrectly stored) fire extinguisher cleaning product, located on top of the desk this created a fire.

The fire, thankfully was very quickly extinguished by West Midlands Fire Service who, quickly gained access and doused the flames using some of the equipment we had inside the workshop as well as some of their own equipment.

This fire raged ONLY for about 15-20 minutes.

Imagine what it would’ve looked like had the fire brigade not been able to gain access so quickly or if they couldn’t extinguish the fire. It is very plausible that the entire building could’ve been destroyed!

And Yes... We do appreciate the irony of a fire safety company having a fire, but it does go to show that fire does not discriminate

How do you know your fire equipment will work in the event of a real emergency? Have they been tested in the past year – if not you could be in trouble!

The cost of refilling an extinguisher plus the call out fees and of course the cost of any additional parts required, can soon mount up.
Our fire cabinets can hold up to three fire extinguishers and have the advantage that it can be locked which helps discourage tampering.
