Our annual beach trip for carers took place on Saturday! 🏖️☀️

The trip provided a wonderful opportunity for carers of all ages to take a well-deserved break from their caring role, spend quality time with the person they care for, and enjoy a day by the seaside.

A special thank you to Ubhfindcare for their generous donation, which helped make this year's beach trip extra special.

A big thank you to the fantastic staff at Tudor Grange Leisure Centre and North Solihull Sports Centre for holding free badminton sessions for carers this week 🏸

By supporting opportunities for carers to stay active, connect with others and take a well-deserved break, they are helping to build more carer-friendly communities across Solihull.

We're excited to be working together and hope to bring more opportunities like this to carers in the future.

Solihull Council continues to demonstrate its commitment to supporting unpaid carers.

Solihull Council’s Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care and Health, Cllr Tony Dicicco, shared:

“Carers are the backbone of our communities and play a vital role in supporting family, friends and loved ones, often combining this with the challenges of employment.

“As a carer aware and carer friendly employer, we’ve signed the Carer Friendly Employment Pledge to reinforce our commitment to supporting unpaid carers.

“If you’re a carer in Solihull, we’re here for you. Whether it’s information and advice, respite breaks, or free carer’s assessments for unpaid carers, we encourage you to find out about the support available on our website.”

As part of CarersWeek and this year's theme, Building Carer Friendly Communities, we're highlighting Ubhfindcare .

They support people who are looking to access additional care and support for those they care for, helping families navigate their caring journey. They also regularly support our service through fundraising events, donations towards activities, and by supporting our information events

A great example of a local business supporting unpaid carers. 👏

Building Carer Friendly Communities Through Education 📚

Schools have a vital role to play in supporting young carers. By raising awareness, promoting understanding and providing the right support, we can help young carers succeed both in and out of the classroom.

Our Peer Mentors are helping to make this happen by supporting young carers in schools across Solihull.
