Longer opening hours will soon be available at three of our libraries 📚

Between the end of this year and early next year, we're introducing Open Plus technology at Dickens Heath Library, Hobs Moat Library and Balsall Common Library, making them more accessible and flexible community spaces.

Cabinet Member for Communities, Cllr Wazma Qais (pictured) said 💬: “Open Plus will extend opening hours and give people choice of how and when they use their local library, fitting visits in around work, school, families and other commitments."

Staff will continue to be available during normal opening hours to provide advice and support! 🙌

The project is grant funded by the West Midlands Combined Authority.

Silent Reading Café – Dwell Area at the Core
Library – Thursday 20th
August from 6pm-7.45pm

Indulge in a digital detox, switch off from the outside world, and lose
yourself in an hour of uninterrupted reading at The Core. No, it’s not a
reading club, it’s a chance to unwind and read any book you like, in a cosy,
informal environment without distractions. So, step away from that phone, grab
a slice of cake and a coffee, and treat yourself to an hour of silent reading!

The Cafe begins with an hour of silent reading between 6pm and 7pm, with
a chance to chat (if you want) between 7pm and 7.45pm. There's no obligation to
talk about your book, although the conversation often turns to what everyone is
reading!

So, bring a book (or e-reader), purchase some goodies from Encore Café,
sit back, relax, and enjoy a slice of blissful silence.
